U fill in the registrion requirements on the sign up pages to get it, athogh when u first login to some of teh admin panles, the amount of links can look a littel confusing and offputing, athogh on most evrything is labled and doesnt take long to get used to

Invision Power Board is very good and personally my second favourite, i find PHPBB is a little to basic and often looks a little tacky. I use Invision Power Board 2.0 but they have since stopped allowing you to download this free, if i had to pay though i would choose VB anyday!

I have to argee making it pay for puts pople off, if your going to pay for a boared u may as well go all teh way and get v bulliten, rather than go half way for IPB2. athogh it does tempt me as im a big fan of invison boareds

Well this all looks very nice, but infact you need all kinds of things like databases to store the user information and this sort of thing - can you set up for example a pHp forum on just a free hosting account like freewebs? Do you have to set-up a database and have servers for the databases and things yourself, or is that just sorted out for you?

It depends if you want it remotely hosted or not. If it's remotely hosted, the forum is located offsite. If you don't mind uploading the script to your webspace use the links below:

phpBB: http://www.phpbb.com
Invision Board: http://www.invisionboard.com
XMB: http://www.xmbforum.com

Remotely Hosted:

Invision Free: http://www.invisionfree.com
Forumer: http://www.forumer.com
ProBoards: http://www.proboards.com
MyIkonBoard: http://www.myikonboard.com
