My firewall has started working..but straight after guess wot my sis has done..
My sis was apparently downloading music from websites and ended up gettin something norton identified as "trojan horse"..which isn't very specific.
So after she's ruined the comptuer i came on to fix it. I looked at the activity log and saw that it had created and infected the file C:\WINDOWS\system32/IdleUI.dll
It was unable to repair it. So i searched google for "IdleUI.dll", and got websites saying it was more like spyware than a trojan. But the McAffe website said it was a trojan..so to be honest i'm not really sure what it was.
Anyway i found out that the "trojan" installs software called "Second chance" and other software like pcsearch and adds links to gambling sites on your desktop.
So i decided it was more like spyware than a trojan and used adaware and spy sweeper to remove them all. Then did a check up on norton systemworks to remove all invalid shortcuts left after the software was removed.
But now i find out my internet explorer has messed up completely. First of all, it takes about 5 minutes for explorer to even come up after you click it. I've got my homepage set to habbohotel.co.uk and after it finally loads up and i click "check in" it just freezes and i end up with it saying its not responding.
I have no idea what to do. I use aol to connect to the internet but need explorer to make clones to get my room on pop etc. I need explorer to work but i have no idea what to do. It there anyway i can reinstall it without messing things up?
Or what else can i do?
My computer is usually reasonably fast. All my other programs start up at usual speed its just internet explorer that takes ages to open and freezes up.
Also on the habbohotel.co.uk website..
The top part looks different to the way it was yesterday. The blue bit at the top goes all accross the screen instead of it just being a banner in a box if u know what i mean. Is this just my computer or has it changed for everyone?
Maybe it freezes because the habbo website has those snowflakes floating around it now.
