Ok I want to make a site about my favorite football teams and news about them.But people say I need a domain name what is a domain name?

A domain name is what you put into the adress bar to get to a site EVERY SINGLE SITE HAS ONE but im sure your friends mean you should get a domain like ilikefootie.com :) Btw we are Web Designers ;) Not wed.
