Are fast food chains the major cause of the increase in the obesity rate?

There are many fast food restaurants that have been created throughout the world. Even for me living in a small area, we do not lack in our fast food restaurant options. It is convenient, cheap, and is available for those with late night hunger cravings.

But, one of the issues that is raised about fast food is the quality of their food. Most think that fast food is one of the main reasons for the increase in obesity.

So, what are your thoughts?

The cause of the rise in obesity is people eating too much and/or not exercising enough. It's as simple as that really - people in the building trade can demolish English breakfasts, chippy lunches and burger meals daily because they burn up a lot of fuel, so they don't pile on weight. But if you're eating that stuff, and sitting on your arse in an office then it isn't rocket science as to why you're piling on weight, is it? It's ultimately about self control.

I can notice if I slightly put on a bit of weight and I either decide to move my arse more OR cut back on food/foods high in sugar/fat.
