What? Forum Updates? Haven't seen these in a while

Sorry for the lack of updates over the past few weeks, we'll try and make up for it now that we've got a full team back together.

The updates for this week areee:

• Safety Advisory - Master PWs
• Use of Live/MSN accounts
• New Forum Game(s)
• IT Crowd Userpip
• Forum Reorganization

Also we have new moderators coming sometime tomorrow (fingers crossed) so congratulations to them!

As many of you may know, there was a breach in security a while back when one of our managers got the iStealer Virus which was undetected by antivirus software which led to that manager's passwords being stolen and many aspects of Habbox's network being infiltrated. Though the matter was dealt with swiftly, one of our Super Moderators, Robbie!, brought to our attention a way that FireFox and MSN Messenger users can avert this virus from stealing their passwords. This is given as advice to the community, do as you please with the information but we though we'd share it to give you the ability to protect yourself from this virus.

So you have all probably heard about the virus called iStealer. This basically retrieves all your saved passwords from:

Firefox
Internet Explorer
MSN Messenger
Steam
etc.

Protecting Firefox Passwords

To protect yourself from your Firefox passwords being stolen, set a master password in Firefox. Follow these steps to set a master password.

1. Go to Tools in the Menu Bar
2. Click Options
3. Click the Security Tab
4. Check "Use a Master Password"
5. Set a Master Password

This will stop your saved passwords on Firefox being sent to iStealer. REMEMBER IT! Firefox may sometimes ask for it, and make sure you don't forget it. Even if it's just like abc it will stop iStealer.

This only stops Firefox passwords from being sent and not other applications. Also if you are being sent iStealer, chances are someone has used a 'crypter' which are available on hacking forums. This basically makes all virus scanners see the file as clean, do do not accept anything you don't trust, even if it appears clean, it might not be.

PROTECTING YOUR MSN/HOTMAIL ACCOUNTS IN WINDOWS LIVE MESSENGER

Basically you just want to untick the Remember my password box and turn auto-sign in off. Just type in your password each time you want to sign in, not too hard is it?

Hey everyone,

Due to security concerns, we told staff to no longer use any microsoft email in attachment with their account. We have decided, in the interests of increased security, to extend this rule to all members, and have banned the use of Live/MSN/Hotmail accounts in new registrations, due to the ease in reverting said emails.

While this will cause a minor inconvenience, we believe it will drastically improve safety as we get requests each week for safety bans due to the revertion of MSN accounts. The following domains are now banned from use as emails:

So those games that we promised you oh so long ago? We're getting to them Due to various problems with Habbox Forum we have put off uploading the games but last night the lovely Mr.OSH (welcome back!) uploaded "Defend Your Castle!" which has been requested by many many users and is now a part of the arcade. I believe there *may* be a problem with the upgrades which we will be looking into but until then, enjoy!

Also, Warzone Tower Defense as requested by Mentor will be going up soon as we find a download link (hint hint)

Forum Reorganization

The following in bold and green have already been completed. The rest will be completed within the next couple of days.

• Computer Games/Online Games/Console Games merged and prefixes implemented
• Elite Nominations Forum Deleted
• Categories Reordered to Trading > Habbo > Graphics
• Movies and Television merged to TV and Film
• Tips and Tricks Forum Deleted (consolidated into the "HxHD Guide" to be posted shortly)
• VIP Announcements Deleted. Threads moved to VIP Lounge
