    Default Rare Values Department

    Hey people,

just a quick question about the department, firstly as most of you know, I have been a member of the department in the past, so I do know what work goes on behind the scenes, and I know the department has some very hard working staff, however....

With the Market Place on habbo, does this not mean that most of the staff are really now no longer required? I mean the majority of items I have put on sale in recent weeks have all had an up to date average price, based on trades over the last seven days, and I put over seven hundred items for sale.

I have noticed the lack of rare shops of late, as really there is no requirement for them, also when I have been in busy trading rooms, all that people seem to be trading is HC's for credits, or credits for HC's or just trying to trade norms.

To be fair, with the exception of a few supers, if I have wanted to know a value, as I have not been on in quite some time, I have simply typed it in the Market Place on habbo, and had my answer as to an average value.

As stated, I know how the department works, and I know the hard work that goes on, so this is in way meant in a critical manner, just really for some feedback on your views.

    Hey,

I completely understand where you're coming from. But the marketplace can be kinda unpredictable for some rares, plus we don't no if they are actually selling. For example, when there's not a certain rare on the marketplace someone can put one on at like 400C when it may only be trading at 20C in trade rooms etc. So we can't really base values on the marketplace.

Supers aren't really traded accurately at all on the marketplace, most supers are sold off it so we really need people reporting on this. Plus not everybody has credits, i myself do not have any credits atm, just loads of HC's so i have no choice but to trade in trade rooms etc etc. There's quite alot of people who still trade using HC's and will normally be willing to give more than the marketplace price, this shows that a rare is going up in price as people are willing to pay more for them even though they are less in the marketplace.

Plus on the marketplace, it gives you an average price of the HC sofa, which is 7C (but they actually sell for 5C). This is extremely incorrect, the HC value must be bang on, a 1C change in the HC price can drastically change the values for other rares.

Also another thing that the marketplace is not good for is Miscs, you can walk into credit shops and buy certain items of miscs for 1C (even 2 for 1C) but the marketplace may list these at 3C which would be more than triple it's value. Although a good thing for miscs is to get an average price between the marketplace and credit shop which seems to balance most of them out at like 0.3-0.5CS.

I think it's nice to have a range of places in which you can get values, marketplace trades, casino trade, shop trades etc etc This gives you a true feeling of what something should be trading at.

Plus the department is essential, if we did decide to do everything by marketplace (which we don't) we still need people reporting whats going up and whats going down. Because i sure don't want to type every single rare into the marketplace, every single day just to geige whats going up and whats going down. By having RV reporters out in the field they can help us identify what needs updating and what doesn't.

    Thanks for your views

I would agree with above. An item's average price can be very wrong; for instance, imagine a furni' is in favour with the public, and it is bought and sold well on the marketplace. This will create an average price.

Suddenly, (maybe due to the merge) the item crashes, and none are sold/bought on the marketplace for a few days.
During those days, the average price will therefore stay the same, but the actual trade price will be different.

The average price is the average price on the marketplace, and this does not necessarily reflect the actual average trade price.

Very fair point Dan, I just thought I would ask what everyone else asks me. But I can see like there can be no value of 0.1 on market place as they always add on one credit, which is another way for Sulake and partners to make more money, Thanks for your feedback guys.
