You didn't initially say they hired out private investigators, but sectional did, which is who I quoted originally, but then for whatever reason you got involved, and then estimated the price of a private investigator trying to back up sectionals comment and insinuating that insurance companies do hire private investigators. I'm not trying to be rude at all, you started that with your patronizing comment saying I think I know everything.

I don't really know which past pm's or comments you're on about, if you wish to pm me them if they actually do exist, then i'll be more than happy to comment about them.

And again, i'm not trying to be the big man on the forums, you're the one attacking everyone's posts, starting conflicts when it's not necessary, pretty sad if i'm honest. Go back to your 'throne' and shut the hell up, your boring the life out of me, bubye.
don't tell me what i can post.

i got involved because you told the OP to take no notice of our posts, soooo...

i'm not attacking everyones posts fyi, i'm not starting conflicts and aww it's sad if you're honest? i know something else that's sad, man i wish i wasn't such a faithful friend.

again, don't tell me what to do. if i'm boring you, then you don't have to read my posts. bye

i stand by what i've said and if you get caught then you could be risking all of your insurance, as well as any policies your parents hold because it's classed as fraud.

You attacked Stefan Wolves after he posted, you attacked me after I posted, a nice little correlation is starting to arise.

You're such a faithful friend? I truly have no idea what that comment is about, again, feel free to pm me about it and then i'll respond to it...

"if you get caught then you could be risking all of your insurance, as well as any policies your parents hold because it's classed as fraud." No ones disputing this? glad we both agree on something.

Again, another post with no substance, I get the feeling you're just arguing for the sake of it and chucking any random word in.

I've not 'attacked' anyone actually, I've posted and then surprise surprise people have been rude to me because they feel that they might be wrong, so they're rude and it spirals from there. Don't particularly wish to PM you ta. I have other people that are more fun to argue with and don't take it personally that I'd rather argue with than you thanks. Thought you were leaving the thread because I was boring?

    To sum this thread up..

Don't front insurance, it's illegal and can get you blacklisted, insurance companies aren't mugs.
If you have a garage, use it, it'll help.
Try to find public secure carparks that can be used during the day if possible rather than streets.
    Look for smaller engine cars.
Look for cars that aren't necessarily stereotypical teen cars.
Look for cars which aren't too expensive either if you live in a 'bad area' (as deemed by the insurance company).
Possibly look at 'blackbox' car insurance, with trackers etc.
Try passplus, ring the company and see how much it'd reduce your premium (be careful some companies only use it during your first year).
Try and get provisional insurance now, it'll help start getting your no claims bonus up.

    Good luck.

Insurance companies don't hire private investigators to check up on you day-to-day. They hire non-private investigators to investigate your vehicle in the instance of a crash. They also check other things, such as who is the ACTUALLY the main driver.

It's classed as insurance fronting when you put say, your dad as the main driver and you as a named driver. If you crash and you are found to be 'fronting' - your insurance policy will be void. Best that can happen - you'll have to pay for the repairs yourself. Worst that can happen - You have to pay for the repairs AND be prosecuted for no insurance which can carry 6 penalty points and a fine. I'm not telling you what not to do, as I did this when I was 17 to get it cheaper. Now, I've been on my own policy for two years.

i'm the star in the reasonably priced car!

Shaz is offline and asleep, hardly discussing anything with her, I used that as again, another instance of you attacking someone (i was merely pointing out that i'm going to defend myself against you and that i'm quite capable of defending myself, where with shaz, you were picking on someone A LOT younger than you...), you really are malicious. Yes, you concluded your post with some information about car insurance, after having made comments towards me. I fail to see any attitude in the post which I made originally, I guess some are more sensitive than others..

    ===

    back on topic.

To get my insurance cheaper, we got an insurance group 2 car, which is a Peugeot 206, the lower the group it's in, the cheaper the insurance.

If you live in a low crime area, your insurance will drop significantly, my friend who lives in a rough area did the exact same quote as me and had like an extra £1000 on top.

im not going to argue in this thread anymore, it's going to become useless to the OP.

fyi insurance groups are changing on certain cars (206s being one of them) this year so i'd check out the new insurance groups before you buy

ok so private investigator, what, 500 quid? paying your claim, 3000 pound? hmmm which one would you choose.

how else do you think people who stage accidents etc get caught? they're hardly going to just pay up are they :S:S:S:S

you've not dealt with an insurance company when there's been a crash yet soooo idk how you can comment
I think someone is playing the hypocrite here... You're acting hysterical and paranoid, an Insurance company will not hire out a private investigator for everyone - £500 x a few million customers? Wow, good expenditure plan here. They only do so in the case of a major incident, you're acting as if they do it all the time, which they do not - especially when you make a whole song and dance yet post no evidence... People who stage accidents get caught because a prviate investigator is caught out of if there are abnormalities in their claims when accidents are persistant. They get evidence from the scene of the accident, statements and then look at anything from phone calls and using CCTV footage.

Also, I don't think an Insurance Company wants the hassle of dealing with breach of confidence claims and be faced with hefty fines for encroaching on someones privacy, just to see if they're lying about their insurance documents, which would be impossible and expensive to prove in most cases.

Are you getting your information from CSI? It seems a bit fictional than factual.

This whole thread is just one big tl;dr so I'll add my point, and if someone's mentioned it before, then I don't give a ****.

Man's saying insurance companies hire private investigators to check for fraudsters - yes they do. They're hardly SAS trained James Bond style spies but they do have the power and abilities to find out if you are what you say you are and you do what you claim to do. The main one is scouring for people who haven't declared modifications to cars, and insurance companies have been known to look through websites like barryboys, and a plethora of car club forums and message boards to check that members who post pictures of their modified cars have declared their mods.

A fine example of this actually happening was when this guy's Focus ST was posted on Barryboys (skip to page 3).
