Exclamation Help! I've got a keylogger!

Ok, first thing is, don't panic. You may want your account safety banned to prevent the hacker accessing your account. Send a polite call for help using the blue question mark, explaining you want your account safety banned and why.

Now go to http://mcafee.com/ and download the free on-line virus scan - you will need to create an account with Mcafee, but it is worth it! You will need to be patient as it can take a while to scan through your computer.

When the scan has finished there will be a list of infected files, make a note of these names as you will need to know them later on. Manually deleting of these files will not resolve the keylogger problem as there also will be several entries in the registry that require deletion.

Unfortunatly, the person sending the keyloggers will be able to choose from a list of names, which makes it harder for us when it comes to deleteing them. However, don't worry as we have a list of the files which you could be infected with.

    explorer.exe/explorer.dll

    mnsvcsp.exe/mnsvcsp.dll

    ntvdcsm.exe/ntvdcsm.dll

    secsrvc.exe/secsrvc.dll

    sclkchk.exe/scklchk.dll

    sysfrcx.exe/srcfrcx.dll

    fatrecov.exe/fatrecov.dll

    tapiexex.exe/tapiexec.dll

    win_spool2.exe/win_spool2.dll

Now go to www.download.com and search for "Anti-spy" within downloads, then download the trial version of Anti-spy.info 1.

When you run "Anti-spy" it will list everything that is running on your pc and also rate its danger potential. you can then right-click the files that match the list provided by Mcafee and quarantine them. Any registry entries will also be deleted.

Go to http://webroot.com and download the trial version of Spysweeper and do a complete hard drive scan. This will detect the keylogger, which is now inactive and quarantined, and delete it along with all the corresponding registry entries.

Finally to be 100% sure you have removed the go to www.download.com & search for ad-aware, or download it HERE. Once downloaded install it and run a ‘smart system scan’ this will not only pick up any other keylogger but will also remove spyware; which slows down your computers performance.

Go through this frist of all - if you need any further help, simply write a message, or call for help via Habbo, where a tech team member will be able to help.

Default Been Keylogged? Here's a Tip

Whilst scanning for the keylogger, if you need to log into anything and use windows XP (or Vista) you can use the on screen keyboard to type your details in!

It can be found Programs -> Accessories -> Accessibility -> On screen keyboard.

Although it's not necessary, it is always a good idea to have virus protection when using your computer. You don't want things such as passwords, or personal emails to be read by others through means of a key-logger, and you certainly don't want your computer to become dysfunctional due to a nasty yet avoidable virus.

There are applications out there to help you stay protected, such as AVG Free:

AVG Free (click for website) - AVG Free provides you with basic antivirus and antispyware protection for Windows and is available to download for free. Compatible with Windows 7, Windows XP and Windows Vista.

AVG Free will not harm your computer, and it's 100% free to use.
