    Default Habbox Beauty Contest?

I'm on mixed feelings - yes it in a bit of fun but I am against judging on looks. It's not proving to be as successful as I thought really as well.

Other thoughts? I thought last year we decent as we had a few really pretty/nice people but I can't see it happening this year.

Well I've got no chance at winning LOL but not really got a problem with a competition based on looks just cos I ain't got any

Anyway, yeah it's not been open for long. If it doesn't work as well as last year I'm sure it won't be done again but I can remember last year's so it's not surprising it was done again.

I swear it was a popularity competition last year, not a "beauty contest"

I'm with Myke People have got a week to post pictures and I think maybe people were hesitant to post as they didn't want to be the first to do it. Last year's was successful so there was no harm in trying it again.

And you're talking about people judging on looks and you made that comment?

It's something that is a bit of fun if loads of people don't enter it isn't the end of the world! Like the others have said it's only been open a few hours

I didn't like it last year so obviously I'm not going to like it this year. The internet to me is a place to get away from physical judgement and doing stuff like this just makes it worse. I'm not being bias because I'm not good looking, even if I was I'd prefer the internet to be a place that stays away from all the reality malarkey such as physical judgement. I love having a place to chat where people don't just judge people from looks "Oh Chav, Geek, Ugly". With the internet it's based firstly on your personality. If I had the choice the internet and reality wouldn't clash.

I'm just a little concerned to what some parents would think, I'd prefer my son/daughter to see swearing on a forum rather than be hinted or even peer pressured by other members into posting pictures of themselves, after all it is a public forum, anyone could sign up, including paedophiles. The forum is regularly monitored and although the images may not be in a sexual sense I still feel kids shouldn't be able to post pictures of themselves. I remember I was all for "pictures on your avatar" then changed my mind at the last second for the same reasons.

Best of luck to whoever wins but I'm totally against it.

To be honest it is up to the member them self whether they post a picture or not and you'll probably find the people who do enter are people who frequent in the Post a picture of yourself thread so I don't think it's really fair to say that members are being pressured into posting a picture it is up to them at the end of the day.

That's fair enough but with that said does that mean if your friends ask you to drink alcohol and you say no because you don't drink yet they continue by saying "it's only a bit of fun" is that acceptable? Yes people have asked me to post pictures and at 19 I feel somewhat peer pressured.

As much as I actually agree with this Richie, think about all those parents that actually enter their kids into things like this in real life.

Unfortunately in this day and age looks is a big thing and whilst I agree that promoting this isn't the best way about it it's something that isn't going to go away so Habbox may as well play it to their advantage, if you don't want to participate then do not participate. Post a picture is one of the most popular threads on HabboxForum so it's clear that people at HabboxForum like posting pictures of themselves, so why not let them attempt to win a competition doing it?

Hopefully this year won't be ruined by someone cheating.
