I think they were quite common quite a while ago when alot of people wore them. There still a fashion item now which go nice with jeans :)

They are basketball shoes. But, now, they're usually regarded as the "Punk-Emo scene shoes" It's sorta now just posers who wear them. Like.. the kings on punk wore them, the new punk bands wear them, and then it starts some fashion statement. I wear them because I think they are random, and funky and I like them. I did, however, see the ramones wearing them in one of their posters I have and thought they looked cool... so, it's not really a crime.

I have greeny pink ones (high rise) and low black ones:) i want to like get the boot type ones and wear a skirt with them. i think that would be random <3

No, they hurt everyone :p They squeeze your feet at the sides which absolutely KILLS. Oh yeah, and has anyone else noticed after you've been wearing them for a few hours they start squeaking every time you put your foot down? Me and my friend were both wearing them in town. We sounded like right dorks.
