I did French + german, but dropped German 'cos it stank, and the good teacher left. If you feel that you didn't like French, then yes- it was a good idea. ;)

Nope, if you prove you're capable of doing it without the GCSE, you can do it as a crash A level ;)
Have to get A level in another language to prove you could manage it first, but i'm doing A level english this year, so it's all good :]

For secondary school we could choose out of German, Spanish, Japanese or French. I chose German but then we got a letter in the post that we couldnt do Japanese or German because not enough people applied for it to run it. So as my second option I had french because I heard it was easier than the other one which was Spanish. But I dont know, you may like a challenge, or maybe it is easier? Its just what I heard... and for me too many in my opinion applied for Spanish anyway so tis unlikely i'd get a space in it...

ah i just realised here i am telling my life story when no one actually cares.
aha.
anyway.
your choice tbh.

Spanish is better, I hated French, but unfortunately it's the only second language offered at my school and I have to take it in grade 9.

I agree, and isn't some spanish similiar to french? So you don't have to learn completely from scratch.

It's all really prefferencial choice, and as we have seen from a whole different range of user's we've had completely different answers with some loving french yet hating spanish, and vise versa.

Personally, I done French for 4 years then dropped it. In my first 2 years you don't really do anything exactly challenging or whatever, but I mainly enjoyed it in my 4th year and really started to love the subject. :]

If your good at it, you enjoy it more! ;p

Theres no point doing something you hate, i mean yh perhaps you don't know as much spanish, but french if french won't be enjoyable. I don't like french, so for gcse's i'm taking german & latin ( aswell as other subjects obviously)
