Last night, DJ Knowalot and DJ Knux hosted a massive four hour show in support of Comic Relief, allowing the listeners to decide how much money was to be donated by both DJs to the Red Nose Day fund!

DJ Knowalot decided that he would be donating 20p per listener to the charity, and also hosted various competitions during the night where listeners could determine how much money would be added to the donation fund. A correct answer on a hard question was worth £3, and £2 per correct answer on an easy question; in addition, a contribution of £1 was donated for wrong answers, providing the caller produced a forfeit. The competitions were call in only, and we have a full list of how a small donation would make a massive difference to some people across the world:

£50 will pay the school fees for 2 children living in extreme poverty in Ethiopia for a whole year. With an education they can escape the poverty they face and look forward to a brighter future.
£25 will pay the school fees for a child living in extreme poverty in Ethiopia for an entire year.
£25 will buy two orange trees for 25 families in Ethiopia - when the trees bear fruit they sell the oranges, giving them the income they desperately need to survive.
£20 will buy a month’s worth of food to feed three children in Malawi who have lost their parents to AIDS.
In the UK, £5 will enable a volunteer to travel to visit an older person living on their own, helping them to feel less isolated and lonely.
£5 will buy a bag of seeds for a family living in extreme poverty in Malawi. By growing and selling fruit and vegetables, a family can make enough money to survive.
In the UK, £1 will pay for a hot meal for a young homeless person when they go to a drop-in centre to get vital support and assistance.
£1 will buy a meal for a family living in extreme poverty in Malawi – this is the only meal they’ll eat all day.
£1 will buy two orange trees for a family in Ethiopia - when the trees bear fruit they sell the oranges, giving them the income they desperately need to survive.
50p will buy 8 exercise books for children living in poverty in Malawi which they need to go to school.
25p would pay for 2 healthy drinks for children living in extreme poverty in Malawi.
