This happened a few days ago, I seen these already but for our plane people on this forum including myself I thought I better post. For people who want to know

Wikipedia:
The Boeing 787 Dreamliner is a mid-sized, wide body, twin engined jet airliner currently under development by Boeing's Commercial Airplanes unit and scheduled to enter service in May 2008.[3][4] It will carry between 210 and 330 passengers depending on variant and seating configuration. Boeing has stated that it will be more fuel-efficient than comparable earlier Boeing airliners. It will also be the first major airliner to use composite material for most of its construction.[5]

Photos of the 787 rolling out off the hanger at the Boeing Plant. I think the plane looks hot!

It is and It isn't It's mainly a response to the Airbus A350 which they haven't even built yet, Most likely have loads of delays like the A380. I have to say Boeing have gone fast on this one and fixed problems very fast. Boeing has had over 500 orders on the 787, so well done and good luck to them. As you can see I'm a Boeing fan and that A380 is just a big momma in the sky which shouldn't be allowed to fly. :)

Can't wait to see that popping up with an Emirates livery in Flight Simulator!

To be honest, I still prefer the A380 with the 'pigeon wings'... but the 787 looks quite nifty. Would love to see the cockpit!

Boeing ftw..

Airbus are horrible, there nickname scarebus sure does live up! :)

Im lucky, I've only actually ever been on about 4 scarebusses, and a million Boeings :)

Either way, the 787 is going to be a HUGE success for Boeing - Hopefully the A380 will be a complete faliure for scarebus, oh wait it already is.

Matt, are we still getting our AdamMattAir B787? :d

The plane looks very good. I think medium size planes are much better than large ones like the A380.

Why?

Filton is in Bristol. I live quite close so I see planes take off quite often, they're mainly small ones but you still get some large planes taking off now and again. Hercules (I think that is what they are called) take off from Filton quite often too.
About two weeks ago we saw this weird plane (which looked like a dolphin - I don't know if any of you know what it is xD) take off, it was HUGE.

Filton gets some weird traffic..

The controlers are bloody strange, SO bloody posh! - I started laughing the first time I landed there in real life, some posh old geezer was like "Good afternoon, you are identified, cleared to land, surface winds are variable at 09 knots." - Scary.

If I ever fly to Filton again, I might be tempted to turn the engine off over Scarebusses hangers.

I've never heard the ATC at Filton x). Although I have been there, as we get free tickets to the airshow as we live in the area.

Sorry for double post but you can't edit.

Update:

Boeing prepares for 787 premier
Excitement is building among plane enthusiasts as Boeing prepares to premier its new 787 Dreamliner at its plant in Seattle.

The firm has so far received 642 orders for the midsize, long-haul jet from 46 airlines and leasing firms.

Sunday has been chosen for Dreamliner's unveiling as it is 8 July, or, in the American date style, 7/8/07.

The first flight is expected in August or September, with the plane due to go into service next year.

The first customer to get the jet will be Japan's All Nippon Airways, which is being rewarded for placing orders for 50 of the aircraft.

From aol
"To date, Boeing has won 677 orders for the 787, selling out delivery positions through 2015, two years after Airbus SAS expects to roll out its competing A350 XWB. Thirty-five of those orders came Saturday, with Air Berlin ordering 25 and a Kuwaiti company taking 10 for Kuwait Airways. "

Are you serious about the Airbus?
I knew there was a delay, but 5 years?
I was kind of looking forward to it, because it would most likely be flying the route I fly a lot.

Warning, in regards to your rep..

Yes it's only a plane, but im not going to only be on it a "few" hours.

I fly a hell of alot, some flights 2 hours, some 13 hours, some even stretching to 20 hours.. I need comfort, you see?

I'd much rather have the biggest window in the front though!

how can they be "too big" haha.

this might be for another plane, but don't the windows automatically dim themselves at night etc on the dreamliner?

(instead of like, shutting it yourself)

The colours in the cabin change to reflect night etc.

The windows certainly won't close themselves, for safety reasons.. There may however be a button that you press and it closes (However, it must be able to be manually opened in the event of it not coming up again).

It would be nice if the crew could put ALL windowblinds up for landing, as every 30 seconds the cabin crew have to ask people despite countless announcments.

-Soph-
10-07-2007, 07:40 AM
I didn't mean the actual blinds shutting by themselves, I thought they dimmed, like, the window, it's hard to explain...

it might be the A380 actually, I remember seeing something on discovery about it.

oh no what i ment is if they were to break you got no chance of stop your self going out some force :P like the flybe pliot (i think that who is was) who got saved by his First Officer (adam might be able to clear that up) it was just lucky that the windows were not to big unlike the new 787

not saying i wont love to go on it :D

Adam!
10-07-2007, 09:42 AM
The British Airways pilot, something Lancaster :p

It wasn't anything to do with the window, it was due to his feet getting stuck on the yoke holding him in.. The cabin crew holding him in, and the force pinning him to the aircraft.
