That's not too good.

I came across the same, but then I registered my dad as the main driver, and me as an extra and it brought it down to £1500 for a Citroen Saxo 1.6 VTR and £2000 for a brand new 3 series BMW.

£5500 for insurance on a Fiesta ST.

Isn't there a website about comparing the prices of car insurance so you get the best one? I don't remember it though.

http://www.morethan.com/

Go on MoreThan, there cheap when it comes to car insurance. Also try Tesco car insurance, yep, sounds pathetic but you can get some cheap quotes off there.

Remember, if your car engine size is greater than 1.4 litre then the insurance bumps up a whole lot more. Try going for a 1.2 litre engine, good size engine for a first time driver and much more cheaper on the insurance.
Alot of the sites that 'find' you a insurance company won't find you anything lower than 3000K (sorry, my pound sign doesn't work :/ ) try looking at seperate insurance companies.

Agreed :eusa_danc

You could also try
http://www.bell.co.uk/
they offer decent prices for young drivers also offer 10 month polocies where you get your years no claims at the end of it :o so after 10 months you get 30% off your next years price.
it would be worth doing just to get your first lot of no claims.
