Well I was just browsing around and it seems that Yasser Al Qahtani is going to be going on trial at Manchester City:

http://www.mcfc.co.uk/pix/1.gifhttp://www.mcfc.co.uk/pix/1.gifSaudi Arabia captain Yasser Al Qahtani is set to begin a trial with Manchester City at the Club's Carrington Training Centre.Al Qahtani, a 25-year-old striker, confirmed the trial stating: "I'm now in England after I got an invitation letter from Manchester City.
"I'm here with Al-Hilal president Prince Mohammed bin Faisal and my agent Turki Al Mukairin."
The Asian player of the year is pleased at being given the opportunity and added: "I'm glad to train with such a good club in England and I will try my best to prove that Saudi players are good players."
Currently with Saudi club, Al-Hilal, the 2007 Asian Cup top scorer is rumoured to have attracted interest from Chelsea but Sven-Goran Eriksson can now have a closer look at Al Qahtani as he trains with the City squad at Carrington.

Now I'd never heard of him since I came across this but he's supossibly had intrest from Chelsea but wanted a trial at Manchester City because of Sven. I just wanted to know, do you think City will offer him a contract once he has finished his trial? Oh yeah, heres a video of him, http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=mdBByAT3GJo all I can say is he looks class. However if he does sign I'm sure some stupid goverment pleb will make him change his celebration. :/
So yeah, think he'll sign on?

I thought you'd be first to post! :D
I seem to remember a Saudi guy posting on the City forum something about him joining City and about Sven liking him... but that was ages ago and everyone was like 'rubbish'. >.>
Think it was the man himself? :P:P:P

with all the money they've got.. they trial a Saudi Arabian captain.. when they could easily buy a top-class midfielder without any problems.

Don't usually class Saudi Arabia as the best footballing nation in the world, but if he's the Asian player of the year then he must be good :P.

Lets look at it this way. Waste £15 million on Crouch or £15 million on Anelka OR get the player who won Asian player of the year on a free who has had interest from Chelsea and Inter but chose City because of Sven? :eusa_whis

Well said but it doesnt mean if he is linked to a top club that he is a good player.

best player in asia.. who exactly is his competition? It's not like they've got the most competitive league over there..

And Sven hasn't "wasted" money as of yet, so I doubt he'd make a £15M transfer without being sure that they'd succeed. Don't really think £15M on Anelka would be a waste either..

N' course he wouldn't wanna go to Chelsea or Inter.. 'cos he knows he won't get a game at all. Look at Sidwell at Chelsea, he ain't done 'ish since joining.

Exactly what I was thinking. Anelka is on top form, shame he's on a sinking side.
