I can start driving in September... I want something REALLY cheap and cheap to run..

I was thinking a geo metro, something along those lines.
if anyone has any other suggestions, then that'd be great - thanks.

Go to work on an egg.

No seriously, get a cheap car like a Ford Fiesta or a Punto.

Hondas cost a bomb on car insurance i hear.

Has no-one actually noticed that he's from the US and therefore doesn't get Renault Clios and Ford Fiestas?

I dunno anything about the American car market, but I'd go for a small Ford (Festiva the American Fiesta is called, isn't it?)

The Fiesta and Festiva were completely different platforms, plus the Festiva was scrapped years ago.

Whatever.

I thought a Festiva would've been just the American Fiesta, the name's quite similar, does that mean it's maybe Ka-sized?

The Festiva was the Kia Pride, back when Ford part owned them.

Lol I like how the suggestions aren't exactly small and nice to drive cars...

I guess the KIA Rio is ok enough, but a Golf, Civic etc are like the next step up from a first car.

Get an old Volvo, or an old (99-02) Jetta. Used cars are better than most new cars. I actually wouldn't advise a Kia, because their customer service people SUCK and everyone I talked to said DO NOT BUY A KIA. (My mom was looking at trading the Town&Country in on a 08' Sedona)

That would be a good first car?

Well true, Kia's suck, even in the UK!

I agree with getting a used car, cheap and you know it is road worthy and possibly in good condition for the road (some cars are, some aren't).

I watched this documentary on Kia. This woman bought a Kia Sedona when she was driving on the highway the SLIDING DOOR WOULD OPEN! LOL AND KIA WOULD DENY IT!!

I like the idea of the volvo, I find them to be a pretty smooth, comfortable ride.

The festiva is also a possibility, if I could get my hands on an older one.
thanks!

(it also turns out that I might be allowed to use my dad's Suzuki SX4 - when he gets it, which would be cool!)
