French President Nicolas Sarkozy has unveiled a new high-speed train that will have the potential to reach speeds of around 224mph.

It's apparently powered by engines under each carriage. Sounds like quite the machine! Can't really imagine going that fast on ground.

haha that must have cost a bomb to make.

224 would be crazy, especially if it tilted round corners like them virgin ones do :D

The point is though, that French train will reach that. Not like on UK railways where we can't even go full speed on them virgin trains as our tracks are not even ready for it.

224mph isn't anything new I don't think? The current TGVs have hit 357mph

224 sucks. Why can't they fit Veyron engines to trains?

They would need increase security such as more rail to support the friction and the vibrations more stability maybe 30 inch thick iron line (like above trams but holding it steady not powering it) or more protection such as bigger carriages so you dont get crushed

There's no such thing as a 224...

224 is the mph of the train :)

I think 224 would be a suitable speed, any faster and you'll be stopping every few minutes for a station :P
