What kind of sound-system does your car have? Is it stock (came w/ the car from the factory) or did you add your own.

I personally have the stock Honda Navigation w/ 6-disc changer and the standard factory speakers.

Standard CD player for a Ford Fiesta. Putting a new radio in a Fiesta means litereally ripping the front console to pieces then asking a Ford service garage to make you a new console for the radio to fit in. Too much effort for me :P Standard speakers too, but they're awfully good for a small car.

Mine's the standard Renault one, but it's pretty damn good for a standard. I'm planning on getting a Pioneer headunit with a Vibe FLI sub/amp for the boot. :)

I can't get anything other than a factory radio! the climate controls and the radio are integrated into eachother.

I find a lot of new cars don't have upgradeable soundsystems.

I think they're trying to stop it tbh. I find it that theres never enough room to put something good in there!

I get that impression too. Radios don't exist in a car as a single unit, they're spread about all over the dashboard/centre console. If you want a new radio it means literally tearing everything out and asking your garage to custom make a new console that will fit a new radio and anything else that was with the radio but doesn't require removing, which is alot of effort really :P

How does an amp work in a car?

I have the standered Mini CD player and radio like others have said it's built into the thing so if I got mine removed thy'd have to removed the speedometer and air con controls and re build them heres a picture of what it looks like:

by the way I got this from the Mini website as my mum has my car today :(

I've never liked where the speed-o-meter in a Mini, I would spend too much time staring at it and getting confused :P Is that the newer one or the version before?

Thats the newer one and the speedometer in the middle is really just for show because you get Digital one on the rev counter above the steering weel :P

Ah ok lol. They should of just made a very classic looking clock to put in the centre :P

Lol well I think they're trying to make look as much like the really old ones as possible like it has a start/stop button because apprently the really old school Minis had them without having to put a key in (but now you obviously have to put the key in first :P)

GommeInc
05-03-2008, 12:25 PM
Ah that might be why, but the old mini was very thin so the centre wasn't that far from view. You don't get the same effect with a bigger car :P

Like I said above theres a digital Speedo where the rev counter is but that one is put in the middle so it looks more like the old style minis =]

Woah, lots of buttons lol. Is that a touch screen or do you have to use different controls? Mine's simple!

It's quite complex. It is touch screen, for somethings, but for maps you use the joystick.

Mine at the moment, I plan on upgrading pretty soon.

Standard Renault one, you'd expect it to be pretty crap but it's sikk!

I want a nav for my car but the one that's compatible with the Mk4 Golf hasn't got a very good satnav interface.

actually it has, I just don't like the red background.

I should have bought a car with the nav already installed! I thought it would be a unit and an antena, but no, it was like a whole new center console, antena, steering wheel controls, microphone and other parts too! $$$$$ to installl!
