Take the hard drive out of my ps3 and put it in my laptop cause my laptop one is broke?
Or is it totally diffrent hard drives?
thanks
I know not very much in this area, however, I very much doubt it. When my h/d failed, I had to replace it with a HP Hard drive, I believe they are completely different.
Correct me if I am wrong :)

Tbh you could but it may or may not work depending on your laptop and it may effect your ps3 + leave you without a hard drive for both ps3 + laptop
Id try googling it.

I know you can put computer hardrives into the PS3. I know someone who put in a 500GB
I don;t see why not aslong as the interface was the same.

No you won't be able to due to the fact that laptop hard drives are a different size to computer hard drives =)

AFAIK the PS3 uses a 2.5" SATA HDD. Laptops use 2.5" SATA or IDE drives.

Oh I am sorry. Just cause I didn't realise that the PS3 uses 2.5"
And please dont use crap like AFAIK when talking to me just because you can't be bothered to type correctly.

If it's still under warranty and you haven't purposely damaged it.

You void the warranty on the PS3 if you remove the hard disk, same with the laptop i think. Only a few companies allow user modification without voiding the warranty

the ps3 has a sticker at the top but not on the hard drive bit
and my laptop has stickers on it saying void if any stickers removed [the hard drive i mean]

seems a bit pointless, if you balls it up in the process of doing it you're wrecking a machine that costs a few hundred quid, when you can buy a 500GB HDD for less than £100 (for a PC, anyway)
It won't work... because the hard drive is already set up for running on a PS3, and you wont be able to boot but im not sure if im getting confused with 360 now though.

You would just have to format it. It wouldn't be that difficult really.
If you really need a new HDD and don't wanna stuff your PS up, just buy an 80GB one or something. They cost like 10 pounds.

yeh, id go with getting a new hard drive. they're cheaper, and there's less chance of you breaking your ps3

Removing or replacing the HDD of the PS3 does not void warrantee as far as I know, there's even instructions on how to do it on the playstation website and in the manual, lol :)
You'd have to format the drive though as I beleive the PS3 uses FAT32
