Most probably every school in the country will. Its teachers strike all over?

''Around 200,000 teachers will stage a one-day strike over pay following the Government's refusal to improve a 2.45 per cent offer.''

Only for teachers in NUT some are not. Our school is closed because 30 teachers are striking. Also the other teachers have been told by their union not to cover classes for teachers not in. Therefore the head has decided to close the school.

Ditto, however they want to try and keep the Sixth Form open.

My Sixth Form is taught by the teachers who teach the juniors and most are in the NUT. I'm not sure about whether we'll be closing because we have close to 120 teachers so... it depends on how many are in the NUT I guess.

Thinking about it - I think most of my teachers are in NASUWT not NUT.

Its the 24th of April not the 28th.

My school is closing on that day except to year 11, 12 and 13, which means I still have to go in. :(:@. But, the letter I got said that teachers who aren't going on strike can't cover lessons for other teacher, but the senior management still can which is why it is open for some of us.

The lower school has the day off (year 7, 8 and 9). The upper (10 and 11) have to go in for revision lessons. Normal day for 6th Form though, but it does not impact me much as I only have one lesson on a Thursday ;).

Misawa
23-04-2008, 02:51 PM
Yep. All National Union of Teachers members are striking tomorrow. It's symbolic though, and NUT knows nothing will become of it.

My 3000 pupil school and Sixth Form is closing as the majority of its staff are NUT, but not completely, as AS A-Level classes for Year 12 and some Year 13 students are still running as a university conference today meant they missed today's lessons. The AS classes ran by non-NUT staff are on, but they're the only ones active on the whole site for tomorrow. As a Year 13 student, I don't come in. :eusa_clap

I agree with the teachers on this, and I know some teachers in my College are on strike. I only had one lesson today and that guys on strike so I decided to stay at home instead of going in. Teachers get paid so low for what they're doing which is giving the knowledge to under-18's who will eventullay go onto being the next generation of police officers, politicians and teachers, ironically.

It's for the sheer good of the future if you ask me. Please the teachers and they will work harder than they have done in recent years and grades will definetly go up. Put the money in and you'll see results after a few years.

The teachers may not get paid enough but they do have 12 weeks paid holiday, which is much more than other jobs who get only 28 days holiday.

Anyway it was raining heavily so I bet the teachers went inside striking than waiting outside the gates or something.
