Ok, if you havnt got your disk, or you dont know the serial number you used when you registerd your copy of windows 2000 then the best thing to do is to download it illegaly and put it on a disk. Downloads:

Windows XP Pro: http://www.torrentz.com/e972af013a9cace2a398703c6f9ed5efb2879315

Vista Home Premium:
http://www.torrentz.com/133fc44495ba98591256411ed6a271b86d859d7a

To download them you need bittorrent or utorrent.

You downloaded in just an hour? Fair enough, never downloaded a OS so I wouldnt know how long it would take. But if its an .ISO file burn it using Alchohol 120% or something, or just burn the files, put the disc in, then make the laptop/computer boot to disc and delete the Old windows copy then reinstall it.
