We were taught it year 1 -> 8 at my school (It goes from reception to upper sixth) then you could select it for year 9 then go on to choose it for GCSE

RE is done for from year 7-9, then a GCSE option is Philosophy and ethics, and those who don't do it have to do 5 core re days a year.

i do P+E though :8

Yah, my school is a Church of England one anyway so they were big on the whole religion thing. It was compulsory to do the short course at GCSE and then you could chose (which I did) to do full course as well. At the 6th form it wasn't compulsory but I carried it on though because it covers all religions and a big part is philosophy/ethics which makes it interesting really.

In my school you do it once a week from Y7-Y9 then in Y9-Y11 you can do it as an option (then you do it 2 times a week) or do the compulsory one (once every 2 weeks).

Religious Education (RE) was taught to me in primary school, where you chose if you were catholic or christian. Being catholic was boring because they made the classes slow, christians go to do fun things like eat food, play games and stuff.

In Switzerland it was compulsary for both primary and secondary school, plus going to church once a week >_<!

I use to, I never chose it though for my GCSE as all we done was watch simpsons movies or talk about going on holiday.

It's compulsory from Years 7-11 at my school, and you get a full GCSE at the end of Year 11. Obviously you can drop it for your A Levels.

Yes it is, and you gain a full GCSE in it after Year 11. It angers me when people are negative against Religion, I think it's vital to be able to understand people of different races/beliefs/religions.

Like most have been saying, years 7-9 is compulsory, then you can either take it at GCSE full course or half course, you have to take one of them though, so if you don't pick full, your in half :S. Now I'm in Sixth Form, we have an R.E day once a term. It's so our timetables aren't crowed with a lesson we could put to better use. So once a term, we get to sit in a hall for 6 hours doing crap we already know, its fun though because we choose the topic in advance and just do random crap and not listen to what's actually going on. Our team always makes a mascot from the stuff we're supposed to use for the activities (after we've done with them of course ). This is our last one :P

Yeah we have it called RS like the person above :D
I think it should be tought its not just religion, its the worlds currunt and past issues. And other peoples way of life. i intend to keep it right through A Leavl til i go to UNI. We also can't drop it for GCSE which i think is right :)
