god i hope not, if you were doing it mid summer you'd have to wait til like midnight to do the test and you'd be too tired probs.

Today I heard something from a friend about a new test taking like 2.5 hours rather than the 40 mins it takes now. No worries for me though as I passed around a month ago.

No changes just yet, but take a read on what they are proposing.

ok, thanks.

The Public Consultation is open for 16 weeks, closing on September 9, 2008. Once the results have been collated and considered by ministers in parliament it will take at least 9 months thereafter for the changes to take effect.

The age isn't changing so its all good, its just changes to the test... To make it better :).

Q19 How is the test changing?

A19 We want to modernise the driving test so that it better prepares learner drivers for driving alone. We are improving the theory test, the practical test, and looking to split the tests into separate modules.

My birthday was in April but i haven't got off my *** to start learning yet. I'm hoping to have 4/5 lessons a week for 4 or 5 weeks, and hopefully pass in August / September! :D

Getting a license in Canada seems easier, but takes around 2 years to get :o

Weren't they going to take the prices of driving lessons up too? I read something else but forgot what now.

Q28How long will it take for all these changes to take effect?

No one really decides the prices of lessons as a whole, it's done by the school or independent teacher. Some charge more, some charge less. It's going up a bit with petrol prices at the moment, if anything :P
