went in the woods! My mom's boyfriend was driving and the deer just jumped out of the woods right in front of us! He swerved to miss it, but caught the loose gravel on the side of the road and put the car into the woods.. next to a tree.. It's all dented and scratched up.. but none of the airbags went off (thank god!)

The insurance adjuster is coming to the house today to assess the damage. It looks like there is only cosmetic damage because the car still runs and drives fine, but it was in the woods so there could be damage underneath.

ouch.
at least you didn't hit the deer, the car and yourself would be in a far worse condition.

I was in Canada BC in 2006. I am suprised at how many animals do jump in front of the car while driving down the highway. Always best to stick to the speed limit or drive just under the speed limit while driving over there due to the amount of wild life around over there.

The claims adjuster was here today and he had good news, the damage is strictly cosmetic, he said the dents should pull out of the passenger door, and the passenger side fender needs replacing, the drivers door needs a new outer skin, the hood can be straightened out, and the bumper can be fixed and a new trim piece can be fitted. The car needs an overall paint job because it's pretty scratched up, and we're going to get the dents in the trunk taken care of too!

because if they hit it, it probably would have caused more damage and mightve gone through the windscreen or something and hurt them.

I nearly hit a deer once, I was going round a corner pretty fast and it was standing there looking at me.

Yeah, we have the mirrors, they were in the trunk, they may need replacing if they don't go back on like the adjuster thinks.

We were going 50mph, and a deer is a pretty top heavy animal and if you hit the legs it's going to fall over, and if it falls over it's probably going to fall on the car, so we're lucky we didn't hit it.

And Invent, why would I lie about missing a deer, you can see from the PICTURES that the car is OBVIOUSLY damaged, I didn't go outside and put dents in it myself?

On canada news they suggest you hit the animal/ deer instead of avoiding it as it is safer apparently//

I rememebr once a deer ran out in front of us really quite close so we slammed on the brakes and then another one come out straight after following it. I managed to miss them both, aha.

We've actually had really good luck dutchess, considering it had about 6 inches of brackish water inside it, it's held up pretty good. We have accidents with our cars because we do a lot of driving, especially my mom, it just.. happens?
