Check the website of the company you are flying with. You can buy cigs at dutyfree and stuff, as well as on the plane so I don't see why not? But I guess matches/lighters etc aren't going to be allowed because anyone could start a fire on a plane or something? I don't know.

Abbie, I saw that on a TV program the other day.. weird stuff!

From what I recall, you are allowed to take cigerettes but not lighters or matches. Matches is a definate no-no, but if you really want to see about a lighter, take it with you and ask someone from security. They might say to put it in a clear-plastic bag, they might say to dispose of it.

If you still want one, just buy one in a duty-free shop when you're through security.

Don't worry. :)

My mum had to leave hers behind then buy one in the duty free when she got through which was like 2 seconds after :S (lighter)

You will have all lighters removed from your hand luggage, obviously.

Old but yeah..

Yes your allowed to take 1 lighter or 1 box of safety matches.

The rule is 1 lighter, however I took 5 through Manchester before and they really didn't care.. Where as Stansted are strict and will only let you have one.

But yeah, you are deff allowed 1 :)

Oh and ****, take as many as you like, your allowed :)

Yeah you sure can take them on the airplane and they do sell them on board sometimes as well. You're just not allowed to smoke :P I don't think there is any air line that allowes smoking on board.

Adam, that's incorrect. There are limits on the amount of cigarettes you are allowed to take on a place. I think the maximum on one flight I've been on is 400. There is definitely a limit on ALL airlines, regarding the amount of cigarettes you can take on board.

There is not a limit on the amount of cigarettes you can take through security onboard the aircraft. There may however be limits on what you can PURCHASE in the airport to take onboard.

If you don't believe me then it's no skin off my nose, but I can assure you that you will be able to take as many as you wish through security.

Adam's right.

The limit is on duty free **** so that you don't take e.g. 3k and sell them in the other country for cheaper than normal retail.

there's not a limit, but there's a limit at customs (if you take over the limit at customs you will have to pay duty on them)
