Hiya

I have been on my mums insurance for about 6 months but my dads car is brkoe so they are going to go back to sharing just the 1 car - meaning I won't have the car at all basically.

So I am looking for quite a cheap car either to buy at a cheapish price or one thats quite cheap but can pay on finance?

I will be paying roughly about the same on insurance anyway (£100) so just want a cheap car of my own.

Would appreciate links! thanks a lot

Autotrader is great way to get an idea for what is a reasonable price. I don't know where in Scotland you live, but by simply entering your postcode, then leave the make and model blank, hatchback presumably :P and enter your lowest and highest price you are prepared to pay, followed by engine size.

I used a guessed post code of EH2 1LP don't know if it exists, and came up with these, they all are fairly low mileage, good condition and low insurance groups. Also if you plan on finance, I would suggest you try your bank first, then you know how much spending power you have ;)

Go for a Renault Clio- perfect first car!

Keep a look out in your local advertiser paper and on Autotrader; they're your best bets :)

Thanks guys.

Erm I guess I am looking to spend maybe about £1000-£2000 at the very most. It's only a wee first car for social use really so it's not a big deal but I still want something quite nice lol to take my girlfriend out in and not be embaressed to pick folk up in! :P Thanks a lot Alice <3

There's plenty of cars you can get for £1000-£2000, but these will mainly be fairly old.
What are you after exactly? Preferred bodystyle(5-door, 3-door, estate, saloon)? Colour? Does it need to have certain spec (a/c, heated windscreen etc)? Petrol or diesel?
