Blackburn have sacked manager Paul Ince after only three wins in 17 Premier League games left the club languishing second from bottom in the table.
Ince, 41, joined Rovers from MK Dons in June but Blackburn's last league win was at Newcastle on 27 September.
Chairman John Williams said: "Three wins in 17 games has seen a squad which finished seventh last season fall to 19th place.
"We are currently in danger of becoming detached from the pack."
The decision to sack Ince was taken after a Blackburn board meeting and Williams made it clear that the need to keep the club in the top flight was behind the move. Former boss Graeme Souness is an early front-runner to take over, possibly assisted by veteran Blackburn midfield man Tugay.

Not suprising tbh

Not suprising tbh

Least surprising thing ever. Actually, I take that back. The surprise was that he wasn't fired yesterday!

Wonder who they'll get to replace him.

Didn't want that to happen but you could tell it was coming. Oh well atleast now we'll have a list of about 500 possible managers.

If the get Souness in, they are as good as down. Curbishley is definately what they need. King of the mid-table finish.

Shame for Ince, you can't blame them though. Better to act now before it's too late, I think the best appointment would be Big Sam he knows how to battle and is the king of ugly football. However, he's more interested in the Sunderland vacancy if you're to believe the tabloids and various reports

And him blatantly saying it! I think he was on Goals on Sunday and used the very words "I want the Sunderland job".

Oh didn't see that :D I think the Sunderland position is more appealing, money to spend and all that.

I don't see why Souness and Hughes would go back to Blackburn. I mean, Souness left Blackburn for Newcastle, Hughes left for Man City, surely, that's saying that they left Blackburn because they thought that they were going nowhere :S
