All of these cars are imho nice and perfect for my first car.

A couple are a bit "girly" like the KA, but do you think i could survive in london with any of these?

Ford KA (http://search.autotrader.co.uk/es-uk/www/cars/FORD+KA/Ne-2-4-5-6-7-8-27-44-49-53-61-64-67-103-133-146-236,N-12-240-4294966844-4294967194/advert.action?R=200907328756049&distance=168&postcode=EN88DN&channel=CARS&make=FORD&model=KA&min_pr=&max_pr=1000&max_mileage=&vehicleYearOfManufacture=1997&vehicleRegLetter=P)

suppose the punto is the least naff out of the lot of them, and looks quite a clean example.

get whichever has been looked after the best, serviced etc.

you can't be fussy about looks when on a small budget

I like the black KA (was it black?, i cant remember), the punto is really nice as well, but just a word of warning, i was warned against fiats by a couple of mechanics i know because they are known for being faulty, but it depends on how well they have been looked after by previous owners :)

Stay away from the KAs. I prefer the punto out of the 3.

Fiat punto I suppose. But I think renault clio or vauxhall corsa are the main one for first cars.

The Ka's may not be desirable but at least they wont destroy themselves. The Punto has won such awards as '10th Worst Reliability' and it was in the '2005 Warranty Direct Reliability Survey with 48 repair claims per 100 cars.'
Here's a list from an owners forum:

Bonnet releases break. Hydraulic clutch slave cylinder may develop a leak. Clutch and transmission problems common. High number of cylinder head gasket failures being registered. Isolated report of front suspension wishbone collapse. If heater matrix fails it may leak onto the ECU (http://www.fiatforum.com/autolink.php?id=8&script=showthread&forumid=34) immobilising the car. Electric sunroofs prone to failure. Possibility of brake master cylinder seal reversing itself leading to momentary but total loss of braking. FIAT/Alfa joint worst for breakdowns attended by German ADAC during 2001. 12th from Bottom of 100 models for reliability in Auto Express 2002 survey.
