View Full Version : Carling Cup final

Sunday...

SAF has confirmed that he will be playing some youngsters such as Gibson and Welbeck... but it will still prove to be a tough challenge for Spurs. However I do have faith in the team (even if we do play Bent and Pavlyuchenko up front). They always put up a fight against the top teams and play with a lot of passion (which is probably why we haven't lost to a 'top 4' side in the league this season).

Anyway, I know you're predictions will probably go towards Man United but I wouldn't rule Spurs out...

Thoughts?

Gomes
Corluka King (if fit) Woodgate AE
Zokora
Lennon O Hara
Modric
Pavlyuchenko

Clearly not our strongest squad without our cup-tied january arrivals, but there is always a chance.

Spurs will win. We are putting out a weakened team and Spurs will obiously have a strong team.

Don't write off our young and old players. Rooney and Ronaldo don't make our entire squad. It will be a very close game but I can see us winning 1-0.

Meanwhile, Sky Sports viewers will be able to see "Fan-o-Meter" readings during their coverage of the first domestic final of the season.
The readings will be based on a percentage share of the volume based on maximum decibel levels recorded over ten minute periods.*
Haha, that could be interesting.

I don't see how its a 'lower' trophy? Its just the FA Cup without all the Cow pat and lower clubs.

Obviously, but it's still silverware. If you offered any team in England a place in the Carling Cup final 9 times out of 10 they will take it.

But you've just got to look at it as an oppurtunity for the big teams to add to their trophy case. I mean with this trophy, United could make the quadrople possible this season which, when you say it, sounds pritty impressive.

Arsenal and Chelsea haven't won cups in a while now, considering they are in the 'top 4'. Chelsea fielded a full squad in last year's final, they went for it and wanted to win it.

Chelsea managed a good league run, carling cup final and champions league final pretty well.

The 49th Carling Cup Final is underway at Wembley. Fantastic opening to the match with the lights, balloons and the tracksuits they were wearing and everything. The word "BELIEVE" spelt out in the United end was brilliant, aswell as the many Spurs flags being waved around in the Tottenham end. Tottenham in the white attacking from left to right in the first half.

For a little bit of ******** yourself on a plane you could of gone to Wembley and seen your team win some of the many silverware they're going to win this season, a true fan, been part of it but no you won't even go on a plane for your team.

JackBuddy
01-03-2009, 07:14 PM
meh, pleased with the performance of the team and individuals such as jenas, lennon and even bent who did not stop running.

Shame O Shea didn't get his 2nd yellow (like he should have) but the same could be said about Ronaldo not getting a penalty. Unluckily for spurs, man u are far more experienced in the penalty department. I just feel that if Defoe hadn't have gone an injured himself and he replaced Pavlyuchenko (who was poor) then we may have clinched something.

Huddlestone, Chimbonda, Gunter and Bale in defence, unless Corluka can play. Bale, Palacios, Huddlestone and Gio (hopefully). Pavlyuchenko and Keane. I don't think Harry will put on Gilberto and throw the game away lol.

Sunday and Sunderland will be our sixth game in 2 weeks... unfair much!? Why don't they arrange these cup games when the fixture list is less busy?!
