I'm doing a practice science paper, and I'm stuck on the last few questions.
This is one of them:

X, Y and Z represent 3 halogens
Y displaces X from a solution of its ions
Z does not displace X or Y from solutions of their ions
What is the order of their reactivities?
A - X Y Z
B - Y X Z
C - Y Z X
D - Z X Y

If you can explain to me what it means, I will be very greatful. :rolleyes:

Ok im not really sure but i think its D-ZXY
Because Z does not displace anything then X doesnt displace anything then Y wont affect the 2 before it i think... wat year is this? Im only 12 turning 13 2moro so i dont know if im right (going into 8th grade)

Wouldnt it be XYZ because Z does not displace either X or Y so it is least reactive, X displaces Y so it must be the most reactive.

I was never good at that. Im thinking B? Y X Z

Lmao. Nvm, I've had the results back ages ago. ;)
The answer was actually B :o

its B

becuz if you replace them with names

sodium = Y
pottasium = X
francium = Z

X, Y and Z represent 3 halogens
Y displaces X from a solution of its ions
Z does not displace X or Y from solutions of their ions
What is the order of their reactivities?
A - X Y Z
B - Y X Z
C - Y Z X
D - Z X Y

if Y displaces X that means it has a higher reactivity. that means that Y is now top... but Z doesent displace X or Y, so Y is the highest. that means you only have b and c.

But Z doesent displace X either, so Z must be the least reactive that leaves you with.

Y - X - Z

That question wasnt exactly clear either didnt didnt say whether it wanted it from least reactive to most reactive or the other way round.

If I had answered it i would have got it wrong because i would have gone least to most
