View Full Version : How many subjects do you have to take in sixth form?

Im going to a meeting about going to sixth form and im wondering.. how many do you have to take?

I only want to do IT but i heard you gotta take 3 or 4

is this true?

4 for AS
3 for A level

Yeah, that's what most people do.

I did 4 then 3. Some do 3 then 3. Some do 5 then 4. Some do 5 then 3. I'd recommend 4 then 3.

Normally people do 4 AS, and 3 A Levels as said before. Don't do any more than four. I did five when I first went to college plus a core subject and it was far too much work and I ended up dropping out.

Generally the reason they choose 4 is because you can then choose to drop one if you don't enjoy it too much. I chose 3 when I went back to college because I already have an AS that I gained in year 11 and I am confident I am going to follow those three through to A Level which means that I can focus on those and get the three As I am targeted and that I want. Ultimately it's down to you!

Ye it really depends on your 6th form, some people at my local grammar school have done 6 AS and 4 A2 lvls.

At my Sixth Form you can take any amount up to 5. :P

You have to take 3 at my college.

Did 3 subjects last year and I'm doing 4 this year..did it the other way around :P
