What should I do to it on a very low budget? So far I've debadged the boot and sprayed the VW badge, next I'll plasti dip (http://www.habboxforum.com/www.plastidip.co.uk) my front badge. Thinking of tinting but not sure to DIY it or get it done professionally. Also contemplating spraying my rear lights so they aren't so red, much like R32 lights. How do you spray the VW Badge because the back off the one on my brothers golf is slightly marked with a white blob.

Yeah I had a couple white marks aswell where the chrome effect had warped. You need to get a hairdryer and warm the whole badge up for a minute to make the sticky tape underneath pliable and then use an old credit card or useless card and prize the badge off the boot release mechanism.

Here's a forum link that should help you (http://www.golfmkv.com/forums/showthread.php?t=7601).

I've just plasti-dipped my front badge and its drying as I type this, will post photo's tomorrow or later to show you how it goes.

Wow it is really fit :D. Dunno why you'd spray the badge over looks a bit silly I think but each to their own.

I'm going for an all black stealth look, Im not a fan of chrome things, only downside to this is that the most obvious things on the car that aren't black are the wheels, and black rims will cost a bomb.

Update:
Front badge so far...

£75 a month.

I think I've found my next project (http://uk-mkivs.net/forums/t/221582.aspx). A subtle change but far better than stock tail lights.

Hmm, isn't that place just off navigation road in Altrincham?

Nice little car, would of gone for a 1.6 - 2.0 petrol as opposed to diesel but whatever suits you. :)

Decent car, keep us posted on the updates!

Be careful with the lights, if you do them too dark, you'll end up being pulled over alot.

Didn't know about that tinting spray for the lights and if I'm honest I can barely see the difference. Nice car though :).

Don't DIY the tinting, if it gets bubbles it'll look ****, just pay the extra and get it pro done ;)

Yeah I've seen so much fail tinting on cars :P. Are there any methods other than sticking film over the window? Just seems dead tacky to me.

Yes it is that place in Alty, there's very little difference in performance of the 2.0FSI Petrol and the diesel, plus I can get 50Mpg in my diesel.

I agree I myself have seen so many bodged jobs, I don't think i'll risk it.

Anyway here's a little update.
Finished with my front badge and stuck the grill back on, here's what it looking like:

you can get an ecu re-map for pretty cheap on golf tdi's. and you get a decent amount of horsepower out of it (depending on who does it).
i love ratted out golfs in white with a checker roof, matte black hood and deep dish alloys.
nice car like :)

Cheep? Where, every place I've looked its around £400, far from cheep, although you are right I've seen them squeeze and extra 30PSI from my model of engine, and it improves fuel efficiency!

a mate got his done for £250 and got 35+hp from it on a rolling road. but that was an a4. and sayin that his turbo died and the engine blew up a few thousand miles outside the warranty on the remap.

Have you taken the front badge off or painted it black? Painted would be better?

Also can you use the tint spray on the front lights as well?

Yeah it's painted in a matte finish.

get a superchips remap, you'll see about 180bhp. tbf superchips is probably your best option, you get a cheaper on which gives you more power puts loads of stress on the clutch and turbo, plus you can pay a bit extra and get 'bluefin' which is a handheld device that you can plug into your diagnostics port (when you're stopped) and turn it on/off.. so if you crash you can turn it off so insurance will be none the wiser! :)

I've got the Mk4 golf GT TDI and I love it! Going for a new car now though, as it's bad luck! :P Thinking a Mk5 GT Sport/1.4T, Audi A6, Bora GLI, etc..

Mk5's are 5x112 PCD fitment, so the same as Audi, Mercedes, Bentley, New school VW's. Don't put some 18's on and not lower it though :( Oh, and if I were you.. I'd tint my rear lights all red, looked awesome on the one at VW fest I saw this year (see below, top 3 pics.)

Those cars look ridiculous. The bumperbar (the one at the back?) is far too big.

Last pic is so fit but would be so illegal here! :P

You know when the arches are that close to the wheels, what happens when you go over a bump? Surely they must scrape the tyres?

If you get that far :P You've got to deal with a ruddy great bang when driving over a speed bump first :P

I don't really do the whole car kit thing, but they're interesting on a technical level. I'm caught between liking the factory look and some of the done up cars :P Some are nice, but the terrible ones let the good ones down.

it's fine.. the arches are rolled and the tyres are stretched for the best clearance, but as gommeinc said you hit the floor a lot, but it puts a big grin on my face! but yeah, i'm into the vw scene and the more modern cleaned look, plus the jdm scene.. 90's spec cars (punto's with big wheels and big bodykits) are horrible despite that I used to love it 5 years ago! :P

Im not really a fan of the whole car kits either. I like a more factory standard pro look.
The car are really not for me.

I really like the low and slow look!
The Euro look is a winner too (if that isn't the same thing).
I want to modify a VW Lupo when I'm older. I want to smooth off the bumpers; debadge the boot (maybe) and give it some stretched tyres! Maybe put a supercharger under the bonnet! Haha! :D

A bit like this Lupo (http://speedhunters.com/archive/2008/06/04/car-feature-gt-gt-the-uk-s-best-vw-lupo-supercharged.aspx) actually.

I love it! :D

Whenever I go over a speed bump too fast and I hear the car hit the ground it makes me feel like I've broken the car (and that's in a non-modified car!)

Btw what's that website again where they post pics of really badly done up cars and stuff? And they call the owners a name.. I think it's Barry? :P
