Yeah so we have another two days of CL football ahead to find out who will be in semis.

I would say Barca V Inter and United V Lyon

All depends on whether we turn up for once in the season or let it all go like usual :)!

Thoughts and pre-match banter?

Adamm

15/2 for Arsenal kinda speaks volumes.

Hm true actually. Both are possible I guess so worth putting a few quid on it. Wouldn't be surprised if neither made it though.

Geraint

can't see either english team going through tbh. arsenal need walcott's pace just to scare barcelona to stand a chance and utd didn't look too good against chelsea.

Adamm

Well.

In hope, I've gone for Arsenal to win (15/2) and Bendtner 1st scorer and Arsenal 1-0 (75-1).

Here's hoping. I can't even watch the game because I'm at work damnit.

Inter's fault if they go out. They smashed them in the first leg.

CHA!NGANG
06-04-2010, 04:54 PM
Nope he isn't playing today although he really wanted too. Although from what i've heard he may be on the bench but that's just to keep Rooney happy. I doubt he'll actually play.

CHA!NGANG
06-04-2010, 09:39 PM
Hm. We had a lot of really good chances and actually could have won but fair enough. They deserved to win and Messi was on a different level. Then again the ref and linesmen was shocking, barca had so many small decisions go there way. I think he gave an offside to Bendtner, who was in our half.

JackBuddy
06-04-2010, 10:00 PM
You had 2 shots on target. You couldn't have won.

CHA!NGANG
06-04-2010, 10:04 PM
Off the top of my head, Bendtner hit the post, Walcott hit the post, Rosicky had it layed straight to him and he hit it over, Bendtner was 1 on 1 and he took too long and got tackled. I didn't have commentry because I was at a pub that had some Spanish channel on and commentry off so didn't know if Walcott's was offside. It's not all about shots on target...

We had 4/5 clear cut opportunities and we missed them all, didn't even test the keeper. If we had RVP, Fabregas or Arshavin fit then most of them would have been in.

We could have won if we took our chances. Even at 3-1 we had a good shot.

Walcott and Bendtner's strikes were deemed as offside and Rosicky would have required a wonder strike. Barca were in complete control for 90% of the game.

CHA!NGANG
06-04-2010, 10:10 PM
They were in control for most of the game yeah but it was the same in the first leg, they still didn't win. I had a feeling Walcott's was offside, was Bendtners for sure? I'm sure he was onside. Also did the linesman flag Bendtner offside when he was in his own half or was it for something else?

Rosicky's wasn't a wonder strike. It came straight to him and he had a lot of time. Could of even had a touch then hit it in.

Typical Germans

Second was harsh because he's tried to get to the other side of him.

I'm not even bothered about the result, but the only reason he was booked was because of the reactions of the bayern players. In fact Ribery acted like a baby throughout the game. Every time he got tackled he pulled a weird face and started moaning at the ref.

If I made my team out to be the greatest thing since sliced bread, then I wouldn't be blaming little refereeing decisions for knocking us out of competitions. If you're as great as you're made out to be, you'd play well enough to cancel out the little things that don't go your way. Of course all those own goals throughout the season can't have done yous much harm.

Gutted for United, I really did want them to go through, but that silly little player with his silly cynical tackles cost them the game. United were pissing all over Bayern, just unfortunate that one player let them down.

Love Fergie moaning. It's your own fault, son. You don't take your lone striker off and replace him with a defender 30 minutes from team when the other time only need a goal.

Jack.Lfc
07-04-2010, 11:36 PM
That will go un noticed though. Just like his abysmal european record.

Same with the 2 subs that cost him last week, where he took fletcher and carrick off, nothing got said.

Rooney came off because he was still hurting it wasn't about taking their loan striker off that didn't come into it.

All i can say is awesome goal by Roben. But the sending off was the turning point without a doubt, he was having an amazing game but the two tackles he made shows his immaturity really so better luck next season, we were still the English club with the most chance.

Fulham to bring back the europa back :)!

'The most chance' means jack all. Leeds United should technically have had the 'most chance' to get promoted for the last 3 season - failed everytime. After all they are a 'big club' according to there chairman.

Yes, so when your lone striker goes off, you replace him with another striker not a defender. Berbatov should have come off. He might not be having the best of times but at least he can hold the ball up.

CHA!NGANG
08-04-2010, 01:59 PM
Hm I would have said don't put Berba on. He'd have to be the only one up there, and the way that United were playing they had to smash it down field and hope someone would get it. At the time, it was 3-1 still, so they needed another defender and O'Shea was a good choice. I think they should have put Macheda on though when they made that sub. He'd be able to chase the ball down and to try and get the long balls, which eventually Nani was made to do.

Smits

Yeah nani was knackered after chasing a few of them, showed when he went to take that corner and nerarly collapsed haha.

JackBuddy

Surely Berba's days are numbered. Fergie selected an unfit and injured Rooney over him to start the game- surely that shows a lack of trust/ belief in his ability?

Can't remember seeing him pull off any performances like these since he's been at United.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tnz6_NvSWPk

He's a shadow of the player he once was, maybe it's because at Spurs he was the stand-out player wheras at United he isn't the 'special' one.

I've always thought united have ruined him. He has the odd good game, but at spurs, i always thought he was a quality quality player. Hopefully he will get back to that soon, be it at united or somewhere else.

His record for United is almost the same as it was for Spurs so it's hardly a huge gap in terms of goals, and his assists have always been good but for the £31 Mill price tag it's a poor return really.

Wiki says he got 46 goals in 102 apps.

He made alot more other contributions at Spurs though. His partnership up-front with Keane was one of the best in the PL, some of the clips in the video demonstrate that. He provided quite a large number of assists and was brilliant at holding the ball up.
