nice to see fabio keeping with his "in-form" policy.

Glad he was brave enough to whack walcott out - that is based on form.

Huddlestone > Carrick
Parker > Carrick
Johnson > Cole
Bent > Defoe.
Walcott (is awful, but hes still) > SWP
GOOD CALL, CAPELLO.

No need for another thread tbh.. But J. Cole is better than Johnson when he's on form.

******* RAGH.
FORM AND FITNESS.
Capello's a ******* hypocrit if he picks people on how good they can be. Johnson has been tearing it up for City. An improvement on Robinho, a former player of the year in the world. Cole has barely got back playing.

Walcott out, I reckon England would really do better without him
Wayne Rooney will be there top goal scorer in the squad.

Cole has proven himself before, on the world stage and against the best club sides. 6 months ago Johnson was playing in the Championship. Who knows if he'll choke at the WC. I think Cole was a good choice as he seems to be fit now, and he's also more adapt to different positions. Saying that I'd rather Johnson then SWP. One left footer would have been nice.

JackBuddy

If some of the newer players had more experience then they would have gone. I can understand Fabio not taking 7 rookies who have only played a handfull of games. Harry just said on Talksport that Parker and Dawson said that they felt like ghosts in training.

Cole is better than Johnson. That's the end of it really.

Dawson has worked so hard in all of his games - he deserved a spot imagine how he must feel

I think Walcott should be on the team, he's a good winger, he plays well, how Lennon could get on the team after missing that shot against Japan I will never know....

immense

At least lennon got into promising positions, more than we can say for Walcott.

So what he go into promising positions, if he can't put any away in these promising positions what's the point in getting into those positions?

Yes because the selection is based entirely around one game isn't it...

He was playing on the left wing and shot with his left foot. Lennon is England's best right sided player, can't leave him out.

Usual suspects in defence.

Barry Lampard
Lennon Gerrard Cole
Rooney

I recon it will be:

------------------ Green ------------------
Johnson - Ferdinand - Terry - A. Cole
Lennon - Lampard - Barry - Gerrard
----------- Rooney - Heskey -----------

If we had to play that formation, I'd prefur it to be:

------------------- Hart -------------------
Johnson - Ferdinand - Terry - A. Cole
Lennon - Lampard - Barry - Gerrard
----------- Rooney - Crouch -----------

But over anything I'd prefur:

------------------- Hart -------------------
Johnson - Ferdinand - Terry - A. Cole
------------------- Barry ------------------
---------- Lampard - Gerrard ----------
------ Lennon - Rooney - J. Cole ------

Browney

a forward scores goals... he can do it against PL defences. not against the best defences in the world.

Vidic, Ferdinand, Evra, Vermaelen, Sagna, Gallas, King, Dawson, Skrtl, Agger, Carragher.

Not a bad resume to score goals past.

Bent isn't world-class. Nor is Crouch/Defoe/Heskey. I think we should use the full-backs' attacking skills better, by using them as wing-backs with 3 CBs and 2 CDMs and reduce the dependence on strikers, in which the depth is poor. So to attack, the formation would be:

Hart

King - Ferdinand - Terry
Johnson ------- Barry - Lampard ------- Cole
Milner ------------------- Gerrard
Rooney

CHA!NGANG

If Hargreaves was fit:

---------------------- Hart ----------------------
---------- King - Ferdinand - Terry ----------
G. Johnson - Hargreaves - Barry - A. Cole
---------- Lampard -------- Gerrard ----------
-------------------- Rooney --------------------

Too defencive though :P

I'm alright with Capello being a hypocrite just so long as we win the damn thing.

Bit disappointed that Bent and Johnson didn't make it though.

Still amazed tht carick is there .... And not happy about leaving Johnson out apart from that he's got it perfect up to now I think just depend who gets played when obviously but I'd deffinatley have hart as number 1

Haway man, this is international football. Defensive is how it's played. ;) Plus, you can get better over-laps with players like Milner and Gerrard who will cut in from the wing.

----- Barry --------- Lampard
Gerrard ---- Milner
Johnson -- Rooney -- Cole

It would also work wonders against Argentina, Portugal and any other team with tricky wingers. The full back can show them inside and push them into a CB without the added danger.

i think the squad would have been so much better if hargeaves had been fit, he was our best player in 2006 world cup and is a much better cdm than barry. great with set plays and just a better all round player than barry imo

Probably but he's far from on form with his injury and all. Trust me, I'm very excited to see how Johnson performs. ;)

I still reckon Capello would play with a big fella up top. Rooney would still probably be our best player anyway.

Well he's coming into the WC without any injuries and fresh so I'd say he's on form now. I don't see Johnson playing a lot this WC but at the Euros he will I think.

Browney

But he hasn't been playing, and when he has, it has been unspectacular. Again, Capello, said he only picks players who play regularly for their club, Cole hasn't done that. He's not a starter at least.

Neither has SWP though. By that judgement, Walcott should be at the WC.

Squad numbers confirmed on FA website ...

So the starting 11 will be:

James

Johnson --- Terry --- Ferdiand --- A.Cole

Lennon --- Gerrard --- Lampard --- J.Cole

Rooney --- Crouch

Maybe not in those positions but they have the numbers 1-11 shirts ...

When Barrys fit I'm guessing he'll start. As for the keeper, James is probably the worst out of the 3 but it doesn't mean he'll start every game.

DAMN STRAIGHT. Walcott should be there ahead of SWP. SWP isn't playing at City, JOHNSON is ahead of him (), Walcott is playing and Walcott has proven he can do the job for England.

I got it wrong and was talking about Adam Johnson by accident but realised he wasn't even in the squad :( Glen Johnson will play every game I think, unless he messes up. He should be ok with the pressure but needs to remember he's a defender.

Oh, haha fair enough. :P Yeah I know what you mean though - I used to get a bit nervous sometimes when he starts to burst forward but now I've seen what he can do at the end of it, I love it :8
