I'm trying to get some good flight prices but i'm not sure if its the closer the time you book or the further out you book it's the cheapest.

Does anyone know?

What happens is, they sell seats in groups. Lets say a flight starts with 100 seats.
The first 10 would go at the cheapest price.
The next 10 would go at a slightly higher price.
And so on, until only a few are left which are sold at a rather expensive price.
Hope this helps.

Best time to book a holiday for is during the school term because it's cheaper
School holidays are expensive

Rough estimate:
School term: £567pp
School holidays: £686pp

Clearly didn't read the post, I know when I want to go I just don't know when to book, like now or closer to the time.

I think it really depends on where you're going.

We've been travelling long-haul to America for the past 10 years and found that booking months (sometimes up to a year) in advance is best. You should look as soon as the flights are released and look around different booking sites.

However, in the past we've sometimes waited until just weeks before for a "last minute booking" - which is simply when they want to fill the seats on the plane and get whatever money they can. This was for for European holidays though.

Good luck! :)
