As I made a Shakespeare thread I thought instead of posting off topic (as I can't change the title) i'll post another thread which is just like a post on there.

For me we had to do an Original Writing piece, a film review (media), shakespeare, another book and also like an old fashion book kind of thing.
I can't remember what it was called, it was called 'Stevenson' as he wrote it.

I did
Merchant of Venice - Shakespeare
Batman Begins - Media
Jekyll and Hyde - Stevensons
The perfect murder - Original Writing
A view from the bridge - The other one

What grades did you get in yours?
Did you get any help?
I was put into this special tutor which helped us get all our coursework complete to a dead line - well most of us.
The problem with that though I finished like instantly so had no more work for ages.
I got an A- in Shakespeare, B in original writing, And C's in the rest.

I also had one on one tuition to help with the exam - it really did help, even though I didn't feel like I was learning.

So yeah, what did you get, I know I ain't smart really so I want to know some grades thats all ;3

We're not doing coursework, they're renamed it "controlled assessment" and make you do it at school, and you only get 1 draft

But we're doing Of Mice & Men :| and I'm starting the controlled assessment on Tuesday so yeah :|

Erm I think...

Written piece based on Of Mice and Men ( A ) and An Inspector calls (A*). Also, we had to do a speaking piece where we pretended to direct Romeo and Juliet and we had to explain how we would do it etc. ( A )

I got an A overall for coursework but got an A for English Language and a B for English Literature including exams.

Inseriousity.

Original writing (C first time, not sure what I got for the second).
An Inspector Calls
Romeo and Juliet

Can't remember the others or the grades for the individual coursework; only remember the original writing cos I did it again! But I ended up with A in Lit and B in Language and my coursework for both was A/B borderline so it was all counting on my exams in the end

edit: oh wait I remember

Media: comparing two holiday brochures
Frankenstein

Had to do some kind of 'book review' type thing, did mine on Lord of the Flies. That was the only internal thing we had to do although in preparation for the external exams we did prose (Macbeth), poems (mainly Carol Ann Duffy's stuff, but we did a few others as well. Must have done at least 5 or 6 poems total), a novel (Cal. It wasn't really my cup of tea but the sex scenes were a laugh to read out loud in class) and of course mountains of interpretation papers.
Most of our marks come from the external assessment; two essays in an hour and a half, choosing from prose, poetry, a novel etc etc and an hour and 40 minutes (iirc) to do two interpretations. Both sections out of 50 marks.
I hated english. Still I worked my ass off and got an A.

It was like four years ago so I barely remember, but I do know we did Pre-1914 Poetry and Of Mice and Men, we also wrote an essay on The Weakest Link. I passed with a C, but that really pisses me off because if I was put on the higher paper I could have aced it. Bloody crap special measures Ofsted regulated school did nothing right.

I think I did some sort of creative writing thing based on a book called Heroes. I know I got a C in it, but I can't remember what the actually assessment was.

For my coursework I remember I asked if I could do my essay piece on something else, so I did a two-page piece on global warming and recieved an A* for it. I forget the other pieces, I never did the literature side though for GCSE.

Mine was very much the same to your except our media was on The English Patient and we did MacBeth instead of R&J.

Carol Ann Duffy was a right weirdo, brings back a few memories!

Been doing controlled assessments, of which one was comparing presentational devices, language features and finding the purpose and audiences of a WWF and defra webpage. Then did a writing assessment on an animal welfare issue and whether you're for/against. I got an A overall and the help I got from it is you could take notes into the exam.

Now started reading Of Mice and Men.
