G12/G13 subunits are alpha units of heterotrimeric G proteins (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Heterotrimeric_G_protein) that regulate cell processes through the use of guanine nucleotide exchange factors (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Guanine_nucleotide_exchange_factor).[1] (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/G12/G13_alpha_subunits#cite_note-pmid8842523-0) These two subunits represent a fourth class of G protein alpha subunits.[2] (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/G12/G13_alpha_subunits#cite_note-pmid1905812-1) They are not sensitive to pertussis toxin (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pertussis_toxin).[3] (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/G12/G13_alpha_subunits#cite_note-pmid8870664-2)
G proteins G12 and G13 regulate actin (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Actin) cytoskeletal (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cytoskeleton) remodeling in cells.[4] (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/G12/G13_alpha_subunits#cite_note-pmid16943201-3) G13 is also essential for receptor tyrosine kinase (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Receptor_tyrosine_kinase)-induced migration (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cell_migration) of fibroblast (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fibroblast) and endothelial (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Endothelial) cells.[5] (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/G12/G13_alpha_subunits#cite_note-pmid16740474-4)
