Okay, Here is my problem, I do AS MEDIA, AS ICT, And AS Product Design, ill pass both AS Media, and Prodcut design with flying colours, its just the AS ICT, and as reglations go you need to pass all your AS's to go onto A2 i dont think ill pass my AS ICT and its far too late to start another AS, so i was wondering is it possible if you pass the 2 AS and go onto A2, and do these subjects but do an BTEC for the AS i failed? but carry on with year 13 but do year 12 btec at same time? or would i have to repeat the year again.. meaning finding a new college thanks

There are no formal regulations, you can do that quite hapilly, it just depends on wether your school will allow you to or not.

If you fail the one at my school you can usually carry on with the others as long as you either retake ICT AS with the year below or take up another AS subject

In my sixth form, if you failed an AS, you had the option of retaking it but if you passed your other courses, you could still take them to A2 so in your case, it'd be doing A2 media and product design but doing AS IT in the second year. Sounds like your college might be different if you have to pass all of your AS subjects to take them all onto A2. Perhaps you could check.

In the meantime, why do you think you're going to fail it anyway? The year's far from over yet, you can't give up halfway through the year. Find out where you're going wrong and work on improving it while you've still got time. Hopefully, you'll be able to scrape a pass and avoid all the hassle :D

Thanks to everyone who replyed, +REP

To post above, i mean i had a mock, and i got an E in it :/ and just had my exam last week friday, and even the kids who did GCSE ICT, came out baffled and feeling suicidal, our school only offerd gcse ICT to 5 students who all got As - A*, and its 50 suming for a C and tbh dont think i got past 30

In my school you need at least 3 E's at AS to progress into year 13,

there are people who are doing as and a2 in year 13 as they're in a similar situation to you, the main thing you need to think about is if applying for uni, how many points / grades will you need, and will they accept the AS points / grade as part of entry requirements. Last thing you wanna do is put the work in to find out its not accepted.

Have a word with someone in the college who deals with enrolling people on courses and see what they suggest, most of the time the school/college will be flexible in your subjects because they want the money they get for you going :P (Harsh reality of it :P)

Work hard and try and get least a D minimum in IT and you should be fine. :)

It's fine, a lot of people do badly in the January AS exams, it's such a huge step up from GCSE to AS Level. You'll see a lot of people retaking exams.

It's only a mock. It's an E which is still a pass. If you got an E in the real thing, you can resit to improve your AS score while still taking the A2. Until then, improve on the E you got in the mock :D

Love your positivity!

Anyway, I think you'll be able to start a BTEC course with a year 12 group and continue the subjects you passed. I can't see a school denying you from doing that. It's always good to think ahead but retakes are also a very good idea as a backup plan.

Is BTEC not a 2 year course? Do you have a place (college) to transfer the course so you can complete it?

Im going to give you straight forward advise.

Sixth form is for people who enjoy school. For people who know they can do well across the board and don't want to specialise. I left sixth form and went to college. Best decision of my life. My advise is to look at your options. Do you want to stay in sixth form and work on something you may not pass. Or get what you can out of alevels and specialise at college.

Oh also FYI, I got 2 E's in AS Theology and I continued the course, I couldn't drop it because I already dropped Business (f that :l) and now it's just a case of working to get the grade up (I'll be happy with a D out of it... LOL).

And I disagree with the above, I don't enjoy going to school, but I do enjoy being a part of sixth form, it's a lot more relaxed over GCSE (until you get to exam season...), I think College is more for people who want to do practical work though.

Thanks you to everyone who has replyed with positives and negatives, all + Rep

Basically, we were the last school in the country to get labours government fund to improve the school, so weve had a 75m new investment being built, our former head of year has left (start of summer) and was replaced, the head of the actual school told the head of sixthfrom to step it up and get the school back in shape, just a lil bit of info we go to one of the biggest school in the country, so hes infroced new rules, and one of them being you cant repeat a year and you'll have to go elsewhere, along with a uniform being brang in, i dont want to go to college im seen at my sixthform as 'jack the lad' and the popular kids, not being big headed but ill find it hard to socialise with new people, and dosent help that i live in london either, but im trying and trying my best to pass AS ICT, it dosent help either she missed 5 lessons before our real exam, i wasnt in today due to me being ill and apparently she wasn't in today either, and im scared would you say to approach my new head of sixthform, because he can become very rude and patronising at times, and ive already giving him problems by switching courses 4 weeks in to sixthform. so im kinds screwed :(
