Hey

Been looking at a few cars on Auto Trader, gonna go look round a few used car dealers tomorrow but what would you say is an "acceptable" mileage for like 01/02/03 clios? 70k? Some have FSH some have none.

Cheers

average yearly mileage has just gone up from 12/13k a year to 15k a year - people seem to be driving more these days.

so i guess you can work it out.

to decode what Ben said. Yes 70k is good LOL.

2001 - 150,000
2002 - 135,000
2003 - 120,000

I'm not scared of high miles as long as it has been well maintained.

To be honest, I'd go with 10,000 per year being a good indicator. My old clio was a 2003 and had 70k on it, so the mileage was proportionate to its age, so finding something like a 2001 with 50k on it is very good.

Of course, mileage is just an indication of how much the car has been used, if it's been well maintained, serviced regularly and had all of the necessary parts changed and replaced, then the mileage shouldn't even matter.

being looked after is more important, my focus is dying now at just over 160k

My clio is on 137,000 miles now. It was manufactured November 1998 so I suppose its average really. I bought it at 124,000 miles last August and the problems have been: 2 wheel bearings, lower suspension arm, clutch, handbrake cable. Not bad really considering it had no service history with the car and only cost me £750 with a full 12months MOT & Tax and the suspension arm and bearing were my fault when I slid it sideways into another car at about 60mph odd :P

Its a lottery though, some will last, others are junk.

it's fine as long as it's been looked after and serviced regularly. My mate had a seat cordoba derv with 220,000 miles on it. it looked terrible, and it smelled a bit, but it worked.

the fogs appear to be discolored, meaning they probably had water in them.. might want to get that checked.. otherwise, looks like a good deal!
