So this was my mum's old car:

http://i216.photobucket.com/albums/cc271/superfly-dan/0389.jpg

2009 Vauxhall Zafira SRi with the XP pack (18" alloys and bodykit) with 140bhp 1.8 petrol.

She's traded it in and brought home this morning a 2010 Nissan Qashqai 1.6 "Visia" (entry level model :frust:)

I'm not crazy about it, personally but it's not actually too bad a car. '10 plate with 20k. Needs a good valet though to get rid of a couple of scratches and a stain on the back seat, but my mum absolutely loves it, she's wanted one for a while.

Zafiras are probably the most affordable car of its' class on the market, their value drops like lead balloons. I saw 2010 (60 reg) ones for sale at Arnold Clark for just over £9k, of which were about £22k brand new, and they're not even a year old yet.

Unless you got one that was 5 minutes old, and it will have already lost 6 grand in value

For a 17/18 year old girl who's providing for herself with her BF with kids coming along, a 6k car (what I just saw on autotrader) and the insurance would be a large hole in the wallet I'm guessing :P

Absolutely, very good value for money. Really practical and not too bad to drive either, can have it as a 7 seater or fold the 2 seats at the very back down and create this massive boot, rear bench slides backwards and forwards too. 1.9 150bhp diesel is a brilliant engine too, she owned one with that engine in it before the red one.

Yeah you're not wrong! For me to have been insured on it for just a month was over £100, I'm 18!

Tell him a brand new Zafira would be suicidal, tell him to look for nearly new ones, they're a bargain!

Anyway, why the downgrade in size for the Qashqai? It's a nice car, but a step below size wise. I'm assuming your mum doesn't require the size of a Zafira anymore? :P I can see the Zafira being changed soon anyway, the current style is getting on now.

EDIT: Spoke too soon, apparently the new model will be coming out in 2012. You could get the old model for cheaper next year super.willow :)

body colored door handles ftw!
They're unbelievably common nowadays. I can't think of many cars that have the black plastic handles :P

That's it! No need for the 7 seats anymore, I rarely go anywhere with my family nowadays (due to me having my own car, etc) so a typical family outing consists of my mum, dad and my 2 sisters.

I've seen a concept of the new Zafira actually, and as usual it will be based on the current Astra platform.

I hate cars with black handles. Honda puts them on their basic cars and they look terrible, especially on light colored cars. A few of my friends drive Astras, they're really cool cars!!

My family is the same :P My brother and I both drive so family outings aren't a big thing, and we can all happily squeeze into a Ford Focus when we're only traveling down the road. We've still got the 7-seater though, for anything my mum decides to do with it - outings with 6 friends for example.

Does your dad share the Qashqai or does he have his own car? I'll be amazed if they share :P

She needs to switch up her colours a bit man. Tell her that Nhix from the interwebs told her to get her car sprayed.

My dad has his own car - he's not keen on the Kumquat either! If it was up to him he'd have had the top of the range one with the fancy diesel!

He drives this

How old is he? Not gonna lie it looks like something a guy in their early 20's would be driving with the white on black effect and those alloys.
