Group D will be awesome to watch. United have the easier of groups.

David

i reckon madrid will top group d, and man city will squeeze through, but t0m brought up a good point on twitter that they underestimated the group last season and run the risk of doing it again excluding madrid

Still got Valencia to beat them though, I reckon they'll go in as the sort of underdog hero that everyone wants to win and then someone totally random like Gago will score a magnificent hattrick of tap-ins and make everyone cry

I knew my original bet had no chance so I put on a bigger one during the 80th minute so i would still make £10 profit and it actually came in for once

FlyingJesus

£53 from a £20 bet on accumulator doesn't seem a very good rate :S especially if you bet on BATE to win

£53 from a £20 bet on accumulator doesn't seem a very good rate :S especially if you bet on BATE to win

This was my original bet

http://i.imgur.com/aalPd.png

around the 80th minute of all the games I knew I hadn't won so I placed that £20 bet which is why the odds were terrible, I pretty much bet that the scores would stay the same for the last 10 minutes (or the winning teams would score)

FlyingJesus
02-10-2012, 10:10 PM
Ohhhh right didn't realise it was placed quite so late on :P stupid Ramires getting a fourth, I had it on 3-0

I cannot even describe my excitement for Ronaldo coming back to OT. Confident we will have Real over two legs as well because of their current poor form but also they have two el classico matches leading up to ours and we have standard PL fixtures. One Barcelona match is the league and on in the cup, and I know the league doesn't matter to them now so they could conceptually rest players but their domestic cup is basically the only chance of silverware, outside the CL, they have. So lets hope that goes the distance.

Still drawing Ronaldo is enough for me.

I don't understand why football doesn't employ technology and have a video referee as well that can be called upon? I don't support either team, but it does my head in with people constantly blaming the referee - you can't expect them to get everything right 100% of the time. But why not use technology? It's ridiculous.

watching the ball or not, he shouldn't have his boot up that high, especially with studs showing. he's not the only one on the park and he should know other people are going to contest for possession.
he also feigned an injury when he didn't even get hit lol, diving ****.

I haven't read this thread and I don't plan on doing so but I can only assume the topic in hand is Real Madrid vs Manchester United.

If so, that referee was a ****** and that was *not* a red card. Anybody that says otherwise is simply wrong. He had his eyes fixed on the ball. It was an unintentional foul and there is no way that warrants a sending off.

---------- Post added 06-03-2013 at 01:22 AM ----------

While the commentators were indeed bias ("it's the goal scorer himself" or whatever they said) that foul was not intentional.

Couldn't you argue that most fouls in football are unintentional?
I didn't realise that if you didn't mean to do it, then you shouldn't be punished :P Surely that means each time a goalkeeper fouls a striker it shouldn't be a oenalty as they were intending to get the ball and not the player...

The key to being a good ref is to know when and how to use the rules of the game, not just to know a rule.... You take into contest everything happening at the time and the situation of the tackle, its shouldn't of been a red. Anyone saying its the rules is stupid, if most ref's didn't use their brain with situations and just followed the rules by the word we would not have the great league Britain has today with the PL as it would just be ****.

So you're saying it was a clear breach of the rules, but shouldn't have been a red?

Couldn't you argue that most fouls in football are unintentional?

I see what you're saying (and I agree... trust me) but in this case, as a poster above mentioned, a good referee will use their judgment. I personally think it's clear here that it was merely an accident. Should his boots have been that high up? Probably not, but they weren't in the air to cause injury, he really was simply trying to intercept the ball.

Trust me I'm no real avid football supporter and have no bias towards either team, but I can appreciate a good game.

That's probably true for the majority.

Not a United fan but it was like the red for Warburton in the World Cup... wrong.

He had no idea there was a player there and the ref really did ruin the game for me. Yellow at most.

I don't support ether but it was complete 'accidental' he has his eyes on the ball the whole time...

While the commentators were indeed bias ("it's the goal scorer himself" or whatever they said) that foul was not intentional.

Whether or not it was accidental/intentional or whatever is irrelevant. The rules of the game say that if you do anything which can be considered "dangerous" then the referee may take appropriate action in the form of a red card.

Nani could have been looking at the ball, at the sky, at arbeloa; he could have been playing fifa on his iPad or even wearing a blindfold for all anyone cares- it would still have been dangerous play and therefore would deserve a red.

Harsh justice. If anything, the laws of the game need reviewing, as I agree it was a harsh red, but nevertheless it was a fair red.

Was an attempt to look as if it was more accidental than it appeared. Unethical, but happens all the time,

Semi-final draw;

Bayern Munich vs Barcelona
Borussia Dortmund vs Real Madrid

Disappointment that they play at the same time, I would watch both of these but Madrid >>>>>>

id say fair game to dortmund but that should have been a penalty at the end and they're nazi scum for time wasting after the second goal
howard webbs also a ****

putting aside my bias madrid view, they went out with a fight in the end, which i dont think barcelona can do in honesty, bayern are a different class from dortmund and are certainly not milan - so i dont think a repeat of that leg will happen.
