Recently I have come to notice how many of the popular songs today are really depressive at heart. One example of this is the 'Clown' song which just seems to focus on the negative aspects in life, but there are many more of these songs that could be easily picked out for this reason.

That's why I want you to tell me the most depressive song line you have ever heard.

The worst will win!

This verse from the song Sail by Awolation is pretty depressing

Maybe I should cry for help
Maybe I should kill myself (myself)
Blame it on my A.D.D. baby

The middle one sounds... soo... so.. DEPRESSING

Oh definitely "Hurt" - (cover) by Johnny Cash, it's actually so sad. But J. Cash is a boss and can pull it off to make it a great song

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SmVAWKfJ4Go

This is the first verse:

I hurt myself today
To see if I still feel
I focus on the pain
The only thing that's real
The needle tears a hole
The old familiar sting
Try to kill it all away
But I remember everything

Hey there,
I know it's hard to feel like I don't care at all.
Where you are and how you feel.
With these lights off as these wheels
keep rolling on and on. (and on and on and on...)
Slow things down or speed them up.
Not enough or way too much. (and on and on and on...)
How are you when I'm gone?

[Chorus:]
And I can't make it on my own.
(And I can't make it on my own.)
Because my heart is in Ohio.
So cut my wrists and black my eyes.
(Cut my wrists and black my eyes)
So I can fall asleep tonight, or die.
Because you kill me.
You know you do, you kill me well.
You like it too, and I can tell.
You never stop until my final breath is gone.

Spare me just three last words.
"I love you" is all she heard.
I'll wait for you, but I can't wait forever.
[x2]

[Chorus:]

You know you do, you kill me well.
You like it too, and I can tell.
You never stop until my final breath is gone.

(YOU...KILL...ME...WELL)
So cut my wrists and black my eyes.
My final breath is gone
So I can fall asleep tonight

[Chorus:]

(YOU...KILL...ME...WELL)
You know you do, you kill me well.
You like it too, and I can tell.
You never stop until my final breath is gone.

I wouldn't call this heartbreaking but still quite sad:

"It's time to face the truth,
I will never be with you."

In regards to being in love and stuff :¬:

Ok I wanna post another in regards to some kinda emotional illness:

"Here in the darkness I know myself, can't break free until I let it go, let me go.
Darling I forgive you after all, anything is better than to be alone."

Evanescence - Lithium

I wanna post more but I really shouldn't k.

The Offspring - Kristy Are You Doing Okay?

Oh, clouds of time
Seem to rain on
Innocence left behind
And it never goes away

Can you stay strong?
Can you go on?
Kristy, are you doing okay?
A rose that won’t bloom
Winter’s kept you
Don’t waste your whole life trying
To get back what was taken away

Probably one of the saddest songs I know, and actually made me cry first time i heard it. Great song tho

"Imagine" by John Lennon is sad:
Imagine there's no Heaven
It's easy if you try
No hell below us
Above us only sky
Imagine all the people
Living for today

Imagine there's no countries
It isn't hard to do
Nothing to kill or die for
And no religion too
Imagine all the people
Living life in peace

You may say that I'm a dreamer
But I'm not the only one
I hope someday you'll join us
And the world will be as one

Imagine no possessions
I wonder if you can
No need for greed or hunger
A brotherhood of man
Imagine all the people
Sharing all the world

You may say that I'm a dreamer
But I'm not the only one
I hope someday you'll join us
And the world will live as one

"Sunday Morning Coming Down" by Johnny Cash is sad:
Well, I woke up Sunday morning
With no way to hold my head that didn't hurt.
And the beer I had for breakfast wasn't bad,
So I had one more for dessert.
Then I fumbled in my closet through my clothes
And found my cleanest dirty shirt.
Then I washed my face and combed my hair
And stumbled down the stairs to meet the day.

I'd smoked my mind the night before
With cigarettes and songs I'd been picking.
But I lit my first and watched a small kid
Playing with a can that he was kicking.
Then I walked across the street
And caught the Sunday smell of someone frying chicken.
And Lord, it took me back to something that I'd lost
Somewhere, somehow along the way.

On a Sunday morning sidewalk,
I'm wishing, Lord, that I was stoned.
'Cause there's something in a Sunday
That makes a body feel alone.
And there's nothing short a' dying
That's half as lonesome as the sound
Of the sleeping city sidewalk
And Sunday morning coming down.

In the park I saw a daddy
With a laughing little girl that he was swinging.
And I stopped beside a Sunday school
And listened to the songs they were singing.
Then I headed down the street,
And somewhere far away a lonely bell was ringing,
And it echoed through the canyon
Like the disappearing dreams of yesterday.

On a Sunday morning sidewalk,
I'm wishing, Lord, that I was stoned.
'Cause there's something in a Sunday
That makes a body feel alone.
And there's nothing short a' dying
That's half as lonesome as the sound
Of the sleeping city sidewalk
And Sunday morning coming down.

Depends on what your mood is. If you've just broken up with someone, lots of the oldie songs are sad --- like, "Tears On My Pillow" by Little Anthony and the Imperials, for instance:
You dont remember me
But i remember you
It was not so long ago
You broke my heart in two

Tears on my pillow
Pain in my heart
Caused by you

If we could start it new
I wouldnt hesistate
I'd gladly take you back
And tell the hands of faith

Tears on my pillow
Pain in my heart
Caused by you

Love is not a gaget
Love is not a toy
When u find the one you love
They'll feel your heart with joy

If we could start it new
I wouldnt hesistate
I'd gladly take you back
And tell the hands of faith

Tears on my pillow
Pain in my heart
Caused by you

Tears on my pillow
Pain in my heart
Caused by you
Caused by you
