So I recently visited Bournemouth for the first time to see someone I know and we ended up for half the time comparing Bournemouth with where I live, Oxford. We came to the conclusion that Bournemouth had a beach so instantly won, but the centre of Oxford was far nicer - this got me thinking about how I would design my perfect little city. For this competition create your perfect city taking details from real life locations, look at my example below for help.

The core of the city would be venice with all the lovely rivers and boats however there would be Bournemouth beach at one end with famous pier. In the centre of town the London Wheel would be the famous landmark but the city itself would be dominated with students and young people from across the world such as in Oxford with the University. French food and wine would be the local cuisine and the weather would be like that of Southern England, unpredictable and varied. The community would have a real sporting tradition and pride similar to that in Barcelona or Madrid.

The city in which I would like to visit most will win!

I would have the city based on that of an idealistic New York but with lots and lots of greenery enclosed by the buildings. The city would be lined by the coast's beaches like those found in Cornwall. The London Eye would be fixed in the centre of the city which overlooks the entire city and the beach. There'd be protected cyclist lanes, and nowhere near as much traffic as you would find in central London.

The community I'd prefer to be generally happy folk, all willing to help each other and not completely indulged with technology. Socialising with each other in person, not over social networking, calling or texting.

A beautiful tropical island, very simply set, palm trees, good fishing, golden sands, people selling you food and beach wear on the beach itself.

There would be no "town" so to speak, people would all live in these beautiful huts powered by solar and wave electricity, it would be off the coast of Thailand so lots of lovely thai restaurants and BBQs on the beach too. In the centre would be a large open planned spa, free to everyone.

Also, no guns, no crime, no fast food.

So I would live in a place that resembles Alaska with the mountains, peacefulness and cold winters but have beaches like the ones in Australia and have summers that get to around 32 degrees in Summer (which is just nice for the beach). I'd live in a huge wood Cabin that overlooks a lake and have a nice little village with a small close knit community where everyone knows everyone. There would be a main city area that has all the best shops (like City Beach) and have restaurants with some really nice food from places like Italy. There would be loads of greenary with trees and parks and the lake that I mentioned above would be used in Summer for boats and jetskis etc. The weather would be nice for a majority of the year and everyone would be so relaxed and happy!
