I went to a grammar so it was pretty strict. With uniform you were only allowed like black/red hair bobbles, only a school or a dark coloured coat. you must have a blazer or a school jumper on at all times. No unatural colours in your hair.

homework isnt as much of a big deal now
they dont care if u miss detentions lol
if oyure late you only get a 20 minute break time detention whereas it used to be 30mins afterschool??

My school was quite strict with lower school but became more relaxed when we got to upper school. In terms of uniform etc they'd come down on your like a tonne of bricks for wearing the wrong shorts, but now they just don't care. Same with shoes too.

My school in England was a lot stricter and you'd get in trouble for the stupidest things.

Pretty unstrict...

More so that a new head teacher had come along and tried to be strict, but there was just mass mocking at their attempts to change something.

Wasn't really 'strict', however they was rather particular about the uniform. As others have said, only dark coats, school blazer/jumper must be worn at all times, tie a certain length, no wild colours in hair, sensible shoes (no louboutins as some girls tried to get away with :l). But apart from that, it was a pretty laid back school.

I'm not in school anymore, but in reverse chronological order:

My university was not very strict about a lot of things (drinking, etc.)

My high school wasn't very strict (we were allowed to wear hats/caps in the classroom), with the exception of cell phones. If you got caught using your cellphone, the teacher would confiscate your cell phone. Oh, and if you were late for a class by even one minute, you had to go to the cafeteria for the "late program", where you had to sit in solitude in the cafeteria and you weren't allowed to talk to anyone. So basically they forced you to miss out on your education if you were only a minute late (due to school bus running late, or any other reason).

My junior high school was very strict. There was unidirectional traffic flow in the hallways. If you walked the "wrong way" in the hallway, even to go to a classroom that was directly next to the one you needed to get to (but in the wrong direction), you would get in serious ****.

I get that even at sixth form!

It's so annoying when i can literally point at the classroom i want to go to but i get made to go round the long way. And my school is pretty huge so going round the long way often means being late for your lesson

Would be the same for me if I went to the sixth form in my highschool, which isn't even running yet when they were going on about it a lot... in my college all they care about is just to have our badge on us 24/7 haha

Sorry if I'm going a bit off topic here, but just out of curiosity... what does sixth form mean? I'm Canadian so I don't quite understand the lingo. Cheers :)

My school wasn't really strict.

Well, it was more strict on the goods kids because like most British schools now they were taught/believed in pandering to the little ***** who ruled the roost, ie giving them a free school trip and not giving the good kids one. But that's what happens when you have an education system run and stuffed full of left wing handwringers: rewarding the bad and punishing the good.

Still I loved school, but boy did that part of it piss me off.

So you're only obligated to go to school until you're 16? So "high school" is over at 16? And then you have the choice to go to your Sixth Form from 16-18?

Do you specialize in Sixth Form like a college? Or is it like a continuation of high school?

I am the last year that was able to leave education at sixteen. The year below me is required to stay in some form of education until they are 18. That can be a sixth form, a college, an apprenticeship, or a work placement with the correct training.

At secondary school, you get to choose four GCSE subjects from the list your school offers you (normally things like history, geography, a language of some form, RE, extra sport, art, media, music, dance, etc.) at the end of Year 9. You then take those four subjects plus english language, english literature, double or triple science, maths and basic PE throughout Years 10 and 11.

Idk much about anything else but at sixth form, it's normal for someone to take four AS Levels (that's in Year 12) and then drop one for A2 (Year 13). But some ppl do 3 or 5 AS Levels, just up to them. You specialise a lot more in those 3 - 5 subjects than you would do at GCSE but not as much as at University.

It's like those schools where they punish missing school with suspensions. Sound logic right there.
