The day this competition is released will be bonfire night which, with the exception of Christmas and New years of course, is my favourite day of the year. I love standing around in the freezing cold but being warmed by the fire, watching the fireworks as they paint pictures in the sky and smelling the powder used to make them explode. It's just a great evening and it's such fun, i'm really looking forward to experiencing it with all my flat mates. But it makes me think, every day is a day for something, there's always something to celebrate - so for this competition tell me, what day of the year do you think doesn't get enough attention.

There are two websites which I often use which tell you what is special about the day. Firstly, this website (http://www.un.org/en/events/observances/days.shtml) which gives you the more serious and generic occasions and secondly, this website (http://www.checkiday.com) which gives you the more humorous celebrations.

1st March - Zero Discrimonation Day

Probably one of the days that nobody knows about. And carries on discrimating everything.

19th november

world toilet day
i, personally have never heard of this and i think it should be more widely recognised...
2.5 billion people do not have access to proper sanitation, including toilets or latrines, with dramatic consequences on human health, dignity and security, the environment, and social and economic development
i definitely think we take toilets for granted and i'm not joking

the united nations have said that "equality and dignity" is the theme for this year's world toilet day, which seeks to put a spotlight on the threat of sexual violence that women and girls face due to the loss of privacy as well as the inequalities that are present in usability. toilets generally remain inadequate for the populations with special needs, such as the disabled and elderly, and women and girls requiring facilities to manage menstrual hygiene

my course at college are having to go on a 5 day trip, outward bound, to the lake district in january and it's compulsory to complete the course
basically it's an expedition and we will be orienteering and trekking on mountains with harsh conditions and weather and during some of the expeditions we will have to use something called a 'poo tube' (you can read more about what these are here (http://www.doc.govt.nz/parks-and-recreation/plan-and-prepare/care-codes/activity-minimal-impact-codes/disposing-of-human-waste/)) and i am literally dreading it... i will not be going to the 'toilet' at all during this time
i will definitely miss my toilet at home :'(

this day is also:
equal opportunity day (i feel this adds to the importance of this day)
international men's day (but who cares about this)
national blow bagpipes day (...)
national carbonated beverage with caffeine day (YESSS)
national have a bad day day (lets ignore this)
play monopoly day (most important)

March 7 - National Cereal Day

I think this day should be a international holiday every year (even though in 2015 it's a Saturday) because people don't have enough appreciation for cereals. Like we should spend the day thanking Mr.Kelloggs and his family and thank him for inventing coco pops. Then we should donate some cereals to the poor people who can't eat breakfast every morning.

Then at night everyone comes to my house for a cereal/birthday party because it's my birthday.
