Question is why are they not allowed to wear it?

English and Scottish soldiers fought side-by-side in the Great War and the players want to pay their respects. What's wrong with that?

Maybe because it sets a precedent?.. and others countries would copy?

Didn't this happen a few years ago as well? I'm sure I've heard this before.

They have chosen to wear it still in defiance of the FIFA rules. FIFA said and quite poorly put it during a short BBC Interview saying "It is against the rules of FIFA" and something along the lines of... giving one country the ability will invoke others to do so such as Syria

Sorry but how can the CIVIL wars in Syria ever reflect the more than 38 million lives lost during World War I? The total number in Syria roughly equates to 450,000. Now I am not saying what has happened in Syria is dreadful, because it is - they are human lives being taken away. But how does a CIVIL war ever compare to a WORLD WAR; and that to form part of the basis on FIFA not allowing two English teams to wear a simple but meaningful poppy?

If you haven't guessed I voice my feelings quite strongly about this matter and feel strongly the same about other countries and their remembrance traditions but this is a disgrace on the FIFA's behalf and has been for years.

I am not a badge of honour,

I am not a racist smear,

I am not a fashion statement,

To be worn but once a year,

I am not glorification

Of conflict or of war.

I am not a paper ornament

A token,

I am more.

I am a loving memory,

Of a father or a son,

A permanent reminder

Of each and every one.

Im paper or enamel

I’m old or shining new,

I’m a way of saying thank you,

To every one of you.

I am a simple poppy

A Reminder to you all,

That courage faith and honour,

Will stand where heroes fall.

I know it's an outrage but surely you can see where Fifa are coming from when they say it sets a precedent for others countries and that their traditions may incite backlash

There was an article around today about the fact that FIFA allowed the Republic of Ireland to wear a potentially politically motivated image on their shirts. Here if the first article on Google: http://www.newsletter.co.uk/news/football-poppy-row-fifa-accused-of-double-standards-1-7659364

Fifa has opened disciplinary proceedings against the Football Association of Ireland over an Easter Rising symbol on the team's shirts in a March friendly.

How much do the British teams pay into FIFA?

Tell the corrupt criminals they can take the fine out of the England, Scottish, Welsh and Northern Irish contributions.
