Government shelves handover of the British Indian Ocean Territory

The Americans have effectively vetoed the attempted handover of the territory to Mauritius

This is wonderful news.

What is sad though is that it takes an American veto to stand up for British interests, rather than our own government. These are our islands, and have been since 1810. The joint British-American base on the islands makes it effectively an unsinkable aircraft carrier for us in the Indian Ocean, it is probably our most important strategic asset.

What now needs to happen is the natives Chagossians, who we removed from the islands in the 1970s but who want to stay British, are allowed to return to some of the outer islands and resettle them - and then hold a referendum confirming their desire to remain an overseas British territory.

Thank you President Trump and all the MPs, peers and campaigners who have fought to have this handover killed off.

May Elections 2026

- Across England 5,014 local council seats are up for re-election and 6 mayoralties
- Scotland will vote in the Scottish parliamentary elections
- Wales will vote in the Welsh parliamentary elections

These are going to be some pretty big elections.

Will post anything interesting as we near them, but for now here is a national poll.

Hey everyone!

No staff of the month recipients are being honoured this month.... April Fools... of course we've got some lovely members to recognize!

Each month our department managers will send us a nomination for their departments, and General Management will discuss who is most deserving.
There will be up to three winners each month who will be awarded for their efforts with a lovely month of HC!

Without further ado, here are the winners for this month:

@Mudita; Bran is one of our help desk staff members & he is always very timely at completing his weekly minimums, as well as putting in additional hours behind the desk as well! He is a friendly face that is always willing to help, and make conversation with visitors of the help desk. Thank you for your hard work, Bran!
@Miew; Miew is another help desk staff member that has made an impact since joining Habbox. Like Bran, she also completes her minimums in a timely manner, and even puts in additional time. She is always a lovely, kind person, and everyone loves chatting with her. Thank you for all that you do, Miew!
@Hottsardine; Jess is once again receiving a vote for SOTM due to her involved in the Content Department. During the month of March, Jess put in a ton of work on the Wiki, AND even made a Habboxforum account so that we can now tag her in posts ;) Thank you for all of the work you do for our Wiki, Jess!

Their Majesties will be hosted by the President and First Lady, with The King travelling on to the British colony of Bermuda

The last State Visit by a British monarch to America was in 2007 when Queen Elizabeth II and Prince Philip were hosted by President George W. Bush and First Lady Laura Bush to mark the 400th anniversary of the settlement of Jamestown.

What I find interesting it that The Queen isn't travelling on to Bermuda.

So a few things on this.

Why, after 60 years of so-called 'independence' (where we've been handing them money each and every year because they're so dependent) are they still asking for money and getting the begging bowl out? There's no excuse either - countries like Singapore, China and Malaysia don't sit there with their hands stretched out asking for money from their former colonial rulers.

Secondly, slavery was a universal constant in the history of humanity on every continent and in almost every nation. And the first country to abolish slavery on a global level? The British Empire. Britain spent billions of pounds, using her Royal Navy, and gave the lives of thousands of British sailors to free and suppress slavery off the coast of Africa and elsewhere.

Thirdly, what is often not mentioned is who was capturing and selling the slaves in the first place. Native kingdoms and tribes in Africa - especially on the west coast - were the ones who went into the interior of Africa and rounded up slaves to sell at European forts along the coast. The heavy lifting work was done by Africans capturing and enslaving other Africans.

Fourth, interesting that this was supported by countries like Turkey - a country which from the 1200s to World War I, ran an empire (the Ottoman Empire) that used to raid the coasts of Europe and take white slaves to be sold in markets in Damascus, Algiers and Cairo. Of course, Turkey would rightly tell us to take a walk if we asked for reparations for this.

Fifthly and finally, if we had a government with any backbone they'd have voted against this at the ridiculous UN and then proceeded to suspend all Ghanian visas and preferential tariffs, and haul in the Ghanaian High Commissioner over this undermining and outright grifting of Britain on the world stage.

Originally introduced in 2006, Habbo Homes were customizable profile pages where users could showcase their rooms, groups, badges, and creativity. With wallpapers, stickers, comments, and ratings, they became a central hub for self-expression and social interaction within the Habbo community.

In 2015, Habbo Homes were discontinued as the platform evolved. To honor the time and creativity players invested, users who had actively customized their Homes received a special in-game item - a Habbo Home Poster, preserving their profile exactly as it was. Years later, thanks to the incredible work of Puhekupla, around 180,000 posters across 9 hotels have been mapped and documented. My Discord Server server uses that data - combined with the Habbo API - to help you rediscover and view these unique pieces of Habbo history.

Use the bot commands to search for and view Habbo Home Posters. Whether you're looking for your own or exploring others, each poster is a snapshot of a moment in time.

Two thoughts on this.

1. The Snape casting is so utterly ridiculous.
2. Yet another film/series sucked of all its colour/lighting.

I'm a huge Harry Potter fanatic but I can't say i'll be watching. Hopefully AI will very shortly be able to swap the Snape actor out for someone who actually suits the character, like Alan Rickman himself or Adam Driver who was the natural/obvious successor. And add some god damn lighting to the scenes so we can actually see what is going on.

What a shame, but hey we still have the magical originals with that wonderful British cast who made it so magical.

Excellent news.

Remember about five years ago when the lunatic left lost its mind and decided to start pulling down statues and vandalising our cultural heritage? Well, fast forward to now and we're reversing that damage. The statue installed at the White House is made of the same marble and cast that a destroyed statue in Baltimore was made from.

Christopher Columbus is a hero for the Americas, discovering the new world when he set sail from Spain and accidently discovered the pre-Columbian Americas when he was searching for the Orient. Their discovery brought Catholicism and civilisation to a continent that was both barren (North America) and occupied by sacrificial, bloodthirsty empires (South Americas) like the Aztecs.

For the British equivalents, we've got the likes of Sir Francis Drake, Captain James Cook, Captain Robert Scott, Cecil Rhodes, David Livingstone and more.
