Posting on the Forum
There are three ways of posting on Habbox Forum. They are: Making a new thread, replying to a thread and editing your posts. All posts must be above the 9 character minimum limit. This is to stop pointless posting.
Making a new thread
To make a new thread in a forum, first find the forum appropriate to your topic and click the ‘New Thread’ icon located at the top of the forum.
You will need to enter the Title for your thread, select an icon to go with that thread, and type the actual content of your thread. Once you have completed this, click ‘Submit Thread’ at the bottom of where you typed your content, and the thread will be added to the forum.
Replying to a thread
To reply to a particular thread, click the ‘Reply’ icon at either the top or bottom of the thread. You will be taken to a screen similar to the one when making a new thread. You have the option to enter a title for your reply, but this is not essential. You can then type your reply in the text box provided and click the ‘Submit Reply’ at the bottom of your reply. It should then appear in that thread.
When you make a new thread/post you have the option of quoting another person in your post/thread. To do this when replying to a thread, instead of clicking the ‘Reply’ icon, click the ‘Quote’ icon under the post of the person you wish to quote. When you enter the reply screen, the person’s post will appear in the text box in Quote tags. Add your own post, and when you submit the reply, your post will have both the quote and your own message.
To quote someone in a new thread, in the text box provided, use this code:
[QUOTE=User’s Name] Quoted text goes here [/QUOTE] (Remove the space in between the '[' and 'Q')
Enter your own message, and when the thread is submitted, the quote will appear in your thread.
You may know this as the tagging system where you @ 'tag' another member to see your post. It is another way to grab another member's attention on a thread rather than quoting them or better yet, if they haven't posted on a specific thread and you want them to read your post. To mention someone you must put an @ symbol, then type the username and put a ; (Semi-colon) after the name. For instance @Nick;
Another way of tagging/mentioning a user can be done through the Quick Reply & Advance Editor using a BBCode. On the bottom right of your tools in the editor you will see an @ symbol. If you click it, it will put in [MENTION][/MENTION] in the text box for you. All you have to do now if put in the username you would like to mention. It is as simple as that!
Using the Text Formatting tools
When replying to a thread/making a new thread, you will have a number of text formatting tools available to you. These tools appear above the text box, and are used to format your text to look different. Experiment using these tools. Holding your mouse over a tool icon will display what that particular tool does.
Handy Tip: If you’re unsure of what your post is going to look like, use the ‘Preview Post’ icon next to the ‘Submit Thread/Submit Reply/Save Changes’ icon.
