"Matchday 2" is done! Again obv not just one day etc but yep yep here's the latest analysis!
Danny/Finland vs RuthOnToast/Russia opened the latest round on Wednesday, neither team are very strong favourites for the competition but Russia edged it by one goal to nil.
Ekelektra's Turks were once again unable to put on a show, losing out 2-0 to Samantha's Welshies even though Gareth Bale missed the first in-game penalty at the Euros for 21 years.
Italy under Chipmunks came out strong for their 2nd fixture, another 3-0 victory and this time against Shannon's Swiss army - this younger Italian side is showing promise!
RichBoiSam marched his Ukrainians out to face Triz's North Macedonian forces, and in one of the most exciting games yet we saw Macedonia brave but again unable to command the match: 2-1 Ukraine.
There was a cute moment at the 10 minute point in the welshcake/Belgium vs LUCPIX/Denmark game, all players pausing to pay respects to Christian Eriksen. Unfortunately the Danes without their main man lost out 2-1 to some smooth Belgian chocolate magic.
Conor and the Netherlands put on a marvellous display against Oivind's Austrians, winning a comfortable 2-0 in their bright orange jerseys on the night.
Its.Dino for Sweden took on hola. for Slovakia... in Russia, because why not. This was one to take a nap to for the most part, a single penalty dividing the teams: 1-0 to Sweden.
Kelky/Croatia and tbl/Czech Republic are two very very similar teams - so similar on the night in fact that it ended 1-1 in a game that will only be remembered by those who put a lot of money on it being a boring draw.
If you thought the last game was boring, prepare yourselves for the snoozefest of Chloelou/England vs NattyNatNat/Scotland. Hyped up in the media and touted as a "derby" grudge match... then 3 shots on target the entire game, no goals. Awful performance from the English, and the Scots are glad of a point.
Unbelievably, jamiexo's Hungary took the lead against world champions and tournament favourites France under katejw62, who had a real task bringing it back level. 1-1 in the end, and what a fight it was for that result.
GERMANY HAS ARRIVED. lucyecc must have given them a stern talking to after their last game because my lord what a performance, getting 4 goals in 25 minutes after going behind to lawrawrrr's Portuguese champions from 2016. 4-2 the end result, and a pleasure to watch, especially after the disappointment of the day before.
The-Dream07's Spanish circus came to town against a Poland team under mardytar, for whom defeat would mean definitely going out of the tournament. A hugely physical battle resulted in 6 yellow cards and one goal apiece - the group is literally anyone's for the taking now.
Been out today soz so the first 2 games of this final gameweek of the group stage have already been played, but stay tuned as Wednesday night we'll know allllll the results and can see who will go through to the knockout stages!

The group stage is DONE! That means we say goodbye to 8 teams and therefore 8 of you. Some very interesting results to decide who qualifies from each group:
Chipmunks with Italy continued their run of form, beating Samantha of Wales 1-0 and finishing the stage without conceding a single goal. No matter, both teams did enough to qualify.
Shannon's Switzerland boys rattled the Turks of Ekelektra to the tune of 3-1, bringing Group A to a close and ensuring qualification for the Swiss as one of the "best placed 3rd place teams".
RichBoiSam's Ukrainians didn't have it in them to stop Oivind's Austrians beating them 1-0, but again both teams here managed to end with enough to qualify.
North Macedonia with Triz at the helm have been a joy to watch, but came apart at the hands of Conor's Flying Dutchmen: a 3-0 result sends one team through.. and one team home.
Finland under Danny were tired out by the high pressure football of welshcake's Belgium, and couldn't stop 2 late goals. 2-0 to Belgium sees them qualify while Finland bow out.
RuthOnToast's Russian side were treated to a wonderful display of football... for the other team. Denmark under LUCPIX made it 4-1, allowing them to qualify on goal difference.
tbl's Czech Republic team and Chloelou's Englishmen started the game knowing they'd both qualified no matter what, but an English 1-0 victory puts them top of the group in the end for what it's worth.
By contrast it was all to play for in Kelky with Croatia vs NattyNatNat with Scotland, where only a win would do for either team. A decisive 3-1 win for the Croats sends them through, and Scotland sent to get their bags.
Its.Dino's Swedes thought they had it flat-packed until a late equaliser from mardytar's Poland team, but a goal in the 94th minute made it 3-2 at the whistle. Sweden through, Poland packing.
hola.'s Slovakia have been a joy to watch, but today had absolutely nothing to offer against The-Dream07's Spain, who trounced them 5-0 to secure 2nd place, sending Slovakia down and out.
Ze Germans under lucyecc very nearly fell apart against a passionate Hungary team under jamiexo, who were close to a real upset until the dying minutes. A 2-2 end result sends Hungary out as Germany march on.
lawrawrrr's Portugal battled hard against katejw62's France, with the last game of the group stage also ending 2-2, a result that doesn't accurately depict how exciting the match was. Both teams end up qualifying.
We say thank you and goodbye to the following:
Losers soz
Ekelektra
Triz
Danny
RuthOnToast
NattyNatNat
hola.
mardytar
jamiexo
... and on to the knockout stages we go! Stay tuned, the round of 16 takes place from Saturday to Tuesday!

The round of 16 is now over, it's heating up as we approach the quarter finals!
The first game of this round saw Samantha's Welsh team crumble under a merciless Danish force under LUCPIX, who slotted 4 magnificent goals home to move on and secure themselves as this year's Underdog To Watch.
The Italian side under Chipmunks struggled to break Oivind's Austrians, staying goalless in 90 minutes but ending with a nailbiting 2-1 to Italy as the crowds were treated to 3 goals in 20 minutes during extra time.
Sunday's first game had Conor's Dutch stars unable to break tbl's Czech Republic, with the Czechs knocking in two late goals for a shock win, taking advantage as The Netherlands went down to 10 men following a bizarre handball.
welshcake's Belgian side took on current champions Portugal under lawrawrrr in the battle of the lowercase usernames. The scoreline hides what was actually a powerful action packed match, but it ended just 1-0 to Belgium.
~~~ THEN MONDAY HAPPENED WHICH WAS GLORIOUS ~~~
Kelky's Croatians took a surprise lead against The-Dream07's Spaniards after a defender put it in his own net, but Spain fought back to go 3-1 up approaching the final 10 minutes. Two lightning quick breaks from the Croatians took it to 3-3 and forced extra time, but were too knackered to keep up the pace for the added half hour, and Spain took victory in the end with an enormous 5-3 scoreline. 8 goals from 8 different players!
World champions and bookies' favourites France under katejw62 were easy favourites taking on Shannon's Switzerland, who completely forgot that they were meant to lose and went ahead within just 15 minutes of play. France copied Spain's pattern and blasted in 3 incredible goals to go ahead, before Switzerland emulated the Croatians to make it 3-3 at 90 minutes. No goals in extra time meant PENALTIES, and Switzerland held their nerve to knock out one of the strongest teams in all of history after saving Mbappe's poorly taken final shot.
Aaaand today...
Chloelou's Englishmen had the daunting task of taking on the Germans under lucyecc, and played it cagey for most of the game before breaking through to score with 15 minutes to go, and then secured it with a second 10 minutes later. 2-0 England!
Its.Dino's Swedes squared up to RichBoiSam's Ukraine side in a brutal physical brawl full of injuries. 1-1 meant another game going to extra time, with Ukraine finally scoring in the 121st minute to send Sweden... flat-packing.
