embrace it and shave it all off
Nooooo. I still have my hair. They are just thinning and receding hairline. I still can save it, right? Right? Right?
This is a real paranoia of mine.
If you are really concerned about it, hair transplants these days are amazing.
Honestly there's nothing worse than people trying to save it.. It's normally highly obvious and you actually end up looking worse than if you just face the music and accept that it is what it is.
Unless you have some serious cash to throw around for a full hair transplant, then I'm afraid you'll have to learn to live with it, but my advice is that once it goes, just own it, don't try to save it, it doesn't work.
Why do we tell men to 'own it' when if a woman was losing her hair or had saggy tits we wouldn't look down on efforts to combat it? A lot of men REALLY suffer mentally with hair loss. Personally it's like my top fear, although touch wood, I am fine given I have my Grandad's-on-mothers-side's hair.
No joke, if you gave me the option of my own house vs my hair, I would pick hair no questions. Very important to me.
It's a natural thing that happens, I wouldn't put anyone down for any attempt to combat a receding hairline, but in my experience unless you have a lot of money to get a hair transplant, then it's never a good idea to try to save it, as it always looks unnatural and more often than not; looks worse. It'll be like a woman trying to give her breasts a DIY up-lift, as opposed to a specialist doing it.
I have a receding hair-line, it's not overally bad, and judgingby my dad, it won't really get any worse in terms of receding, however if like my dad, then it'll get to the point where I won't be able to grow my hair very long (maybe 1cm long ish) but you get people that try to comb over etc... and they honestly look worse than if you just shaved it so it just looks like you have short hair, rather than a lot of hair in certain places covering patches of baldness. That's why I say to just own it, much like if a woman couldn't afford to get her breasts lifted, I would say own it, it's natural and life is too short to worry about what people think of you.
But if you manage to find a way to combat it without it looking silly, you let me know buddy cause I'm all for it! I don't have the kind of money required for a hair transplant, and to be honest even if I did, I wouldn't even bother, unless I was super rich... I have better things to spend my money on lol.
I don't have any helpful advice to add. I had a friend in college that always wore hats and was always concerned about losing his own hair. He started losing it when he turned 20 and it kind of started going fast after that. I've seen pictures of him now and he looks really good bald. He seems to have embraced it. He wears hats even more now, but he also takes them off for pictures--he looks good either way.
I'm thinking of hair transplants tbh. I can't imagine living as a bald person. Not saying it's bad but I just can't imagine myself being bald. I would hate it so much. Though, I need to start working first before I can do anything about it I guess. So far, I've just started using aloe vera and massage it to my scalp with hopes to reduce the balding.
